If I were to buy a complete LS1 crate motor (http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/120/products/466/LS1-Engine-Kit-w-Computer-GM-Performance-Parts-Crate-Engine-Assembly.htm) with computer, how hard would it be to get it running in my '97 s10? Would the computer be easy to get hooked up? What about all the sensors and stuff? I plan to use a F body 6 spd, custom drive shaft and a beefed 8.5" rear end. Thanks.

that LS1 is awesome...but do you have the know how about swapping engines...cause I'm not going to lie...I sure don't. if I could fork out that $$ for an engine like that...I could also fork out for a pro to do the swap. thats just me though. i don't really care for the built not bought motto...cause somethings i cannot do and i don't have a problem paying someone to do it still my truck...

check out these LS1's (http://www.speedomotive.com/gm_ls_1_crate_engines.htm)...some more options if 6gs is too much...

the swap would be pretty much the same as any other small bolack swap into a s-10. There are a few things that are different. The motor mounts on the engine block are in a different location than all other small blocks so a adapter would be needed. But Advanced adapters has all the stuff that you would need. If you are willing to spend the money for a crate ls1 you should take a look at the crate Ls7 which is going to be out this fall.

I agree, anyone who uses that "built not bought" bull**** to convince others to do their own work needs to be shot in my book. If you can do your own work and have it turn out decent, good for you. Some people, me included could care less how the vehicle got done. As long as their name is on the title it is theirs, end of discussion. I don't even change my own oil, because no matter what I do on a car something ****s up. I plan on having a shop put it in, if I can find a place to do it, but I was just wondering what if anything I would need as far as sensors and stuff.

Well, in the time it took me to type the above, 2 more people replied. LOL. I would like a ls7, but something tells me it would be significantly more money than a LS1. Does advance adaptors have a kit to get the computer to work w/ my s10 wiring harness? Thanks.

the discrption says that is comes with a wiring harness. You might want to check out gmpartsdirect.com they have LS crate engines and i think they might be a little cheaper.

That gmpartsdirect.com site says its for 1975 an older. Is that for the crazy California smog lunacy? Wouldn't it be clean enough to put in a newer vehicle? So since it comes with the harness and computer, its just a matter of hooking the computer up to a power source, and plumbing fuel lines, and its done? Thanks.

they say it is for older car because of the stupid smog laws. If you have no emission testing you will have no problem. But the engine would be clean enough for a newer car. They just have to say that for the smog laws. There would be a little more involved than just pluging stuff in. You will need the motor mount adapters form advanced adapters, new radiatior, electric fans. You also might want to put a shift kit in your tranny to help it handle the increase in power. I have know idea how hard it would be to get the new wiring harness and computer in but usually most gm parts are almost the same. I am not very good at electrial but somebody else might know a little more on the wiring side of this question

Well, my main question was regarding sensors but i guess most of them would probably come with the engine. I plan to have a shop install the engine, becasue the only way to break your vehicle is to do your own work. I just wanted to make sure all the nescessary parts would be there when/if I drop the truck off. Anyone in the Atlanta, GA area know of any good shops that would do this swap?
