and I'm sure its been asked before, but why not start fresh?
what's yalls favorite music? can be a specific group, a genre, hell, whatever. if you like listening to tin cans on your head, post it up!
so I'll start.
Mostly metal, some industrial, some hardcore. If its got great guitars, bangin drums, good lyrics, and straight from the heart, i can appreciate it. oh, and written by the group themselves, not to be catchy, and not by some gay ass "neptunes" type producers. WRITE YOUR OWN STUFF!!! plus, I hate how people say "WHY ARE THEY SCREAMING" or "THAT GUY CAN'T SING" have you ever thought that maybe its because they actually feel what they're singing? bah.
alright i've beat that up enough for now.
ok, now everyone elses turn!

Favorite music? Don't have a favorite form, really. . . I listen to most types of music, except Rap, Hip Hop, R&B and Country. Can't stand any of that stuff.
Normal day ranges from old school Blues, Ragtime, Classical, Industrial, Metal (most forms), Hard Rock, Classic Rock and even some New Age.
Normal mode is Metal, though -- the harder the better. Slayer, Fear Factory, Sepultura (before Max left), Bathory, Burzum, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Samael, Therion, Behemoth, Tristania, Nightwish, MuDvAyNe, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath (with or without Ozzy), OLD Metallica (pre Black Album), The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Absurd, Einherjer, Ildjarn, Emperor, DarkThrone, Immortal, Dimmu Borgir (kinda lightweight, though), Iron Maiden, The Abyss, Amorphis, AntaeuS, Atheist, Angelcorpse, At the Gates, Necrophobic, Benediction, Coal Chamber, Dark Funeral, Dark Tranquillity, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Rush, Drowning Pool, Godsmack, Suicidal Tendencies, Enslaved, FrontLine Assembly (the best there is in Industrial), Frank Sinatra, George Gershwin, B.B. King (the one and only -- the immortal), Booker T. Washington, Sun House, Gorgoroth, Graveland, Krieg, Limbonic Art (black metal with a lot of Industrial influence), Led Zeppelin, Old Ministry, Mayhem (only with Varg as bassist), Meshuggah, Morpheus Descends, Type O Negative, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Nailbomb, Napalm Death, Nine Inch Nails (kinda lightweight, but decent enough), Rammstein, Sacramentum, Skinny Puppy, Sort Vokter, Soulfly, Skinlab, Stabbing Westward, Tiamat, Vader (Polish Death Metal, NOT Darth), Zombie (White or Rob -- both are the same, really), Wagner, Bach, Beethoven, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saens, Greig, Liszt, Berlioz, Dvorak, Holst, and probably a few others I've forgotten to list.
Top bands, however: Burzum, Fear Factory, Slayer, Bathory, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Rush, Necrophobic.
Not many of the names sound familiar? Most are German, Swedish or Norwegian (imagine that!).

Oh, and a small little band you all may have heard of. Goes by the name of Metallica.
(BTW, if you ever go to see a Metallica Concert, you won't be dissappointed. By far the best concert I have ever been to. 4 and a half hours onstage. And Godsmack opened with a 90 min set.) Oh, and I had 4th row, stage center tickets.

I'm truly amazed that there are, in fact, people who listen to other than salsa and rap out there. i need to get the hell out of the army and around other "normal" people!
i noticed starstruck mentioned chimaira... its crazy how big they've gotten lately, I remember going to concerts of theirs back in 99.. it's good though, they're awesome guys and put on great shows..
Looks like S/C (its easier to type out your first name, and i shall do that from now on. cool?) has quite the taste for european metal. gotta love it. I am interested as to why you say NIN is kinda lightweight? I think Trent is one of the most tormented and emotionally distraught artists out there... it shows in his lyrics... which is one reason why i love him and his music so much.
I respect alot of the older metal, especially the gods of metal (and the music industrie's frontmen of corporations crushing the little guys) Metallica. Pantera, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, COC, the list is too long. All the bands I listen to now were influenced by these people plus many more.
anyone listen to acid bath?

S/C is what everyone else calls me, so sure -- that'll work perfectly.
NIN I only consider lightweight in light of some of the heavier stuff I listen to. Frontline Assembly, while not tormented or emotionally distraught, is much more hard core -- as are Skinny Puppy, or even Ministry (Psalm 69!!). But that's as far as industrial. Skrew even seems a bit harder edge. Granted, this is simply my opinion and nothing more. Music is a personal thing that suits the listener as much as the artist. I'm not the manic depressive type -- I'm more unbridled aggression.
Also, I don't get into "emotionally distraught" music. It's just not my style. Aggressive, driving, violent, maybe, but not distraught. Songs about personal problems never did much for me -- I like stuff that takes on the "grander scheme" of things. Don't get me wrong: I DO like NIN and I think Reznor is one of the more talented of the artists that receive air time, but he's not my normal mode.
My main listening addiction lately is Bathory -- from "Blood Fire Death" and newer. RIP Quorthon! Bathory/Quorthon is gone, but his music lives on through the heavy influence he had on metal. I'm into most metal, but have a favoritism for Death Metal, Black Metal and (most of all) Viking Metal. Bathory's "Shores in Flames" has got to be my all-time favorite. . .

Hmmm, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Queen, Eagles, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Yes, Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Staind (with Aaron Lewis), Korn, Nickleback, Puddle of Mud, Beatles, Paul McCartney, just about any/all reggae, and the 2 greats, IMHO: Elvis and Neil Diamond.
