I just got an electric fan and i heard that the nut on the clutch fan was reverse threads. That would mean that you turn the nut to the right to loosen it. I was just wanting to make shure of this! Thanks! BTW it is a 99 with the 4.3

Not reverse and you need a very large wrench. Its actually metric but 1 1/4 will do. You need to also have like a long handled screw driver to go across 2 of the bolts on the water pump to jam it for removing the nut!

Some have used a long punch to knock it loose. Once it's broken loose it will usually spin off by hand.

On my 96 is used the heavy truck method of the long punch. Oh it came off, just could never put it back on again if I wanted too!

Before I installed my efan I stopped by the local O'Reilly's auto parts store and I found a wrench in their tool section that was for ford radiator fans. I guess they use something along the same line. It's the right size and flat so it goes on easy. One tap with a hammer and it broke loose. Made it real simple.

Thanks alot! Got it off after trying for about 2 hours, but it was worth it! Electric fan is so much better!

Less parasidic draw on the engine. I put on a Flex-a-lite fan but only picked up a small amount of power. Used a long wrench on the nut and hit it with a hammer to get it off.
