And some VERY Dead paper ;)

Was up north this weekend for family thanksgiving and stopped at my parents house on the way home for some pre-hunting projects and to do a little shooting.

After snowing on us Saturday afternoon (yick!) we had a beautiful day sunday in the back yard. Our annual deer rifle check turned into a bit of a family shooting match so dad decided to get his remington 700 out to show us youngsters 'how its done'. I *ALMOST* felt bad for outshooting him - with his own gun no less heh!

Warning - Paper Targets, Iced Tea Cans, Water bottles, detergent jugs and a pair of Fisher 12" 3 way speakers were harmed in the making of these photo's ;)

All targets were shot with Remington Core-Lokt 180g PSP 30-06 @ 100 yds. The bullseye on this target is 1¼".

My best group of the day, and the best group shot on sunday. 6 round group. Remington 700 BDL w/ Simons 3-10x50mm

Best 'paper' group from my Remington 7600 w/ Tasco 3-12x40mm.

good job. You'll get better accuracy with Winchester 130gr ballastic tips though.

oh i'm sure i could fine tune that 700 to be a ½MOA rifle with a little practice and playing around with ammo for grouping sake. Heck i didnt even bother adjusting the sights when i shot the group. 90% of the shooting on our property is 150 yds or less.

I hunt near a lot of low swampy ground and riverbottom so i dont enjoy tracking an aminal down in the mud. I perfer the 180g round for the extra punch on impact with the heavier round. I feel that the extra konckdown power has helped me keep the last 8 or 9 deer from tracking at all as the animals only went straight down.

I was shooting 1.25MOA@100 yards today with my 10/22 until the wind picked up. It's hard to belive how much just torque on the single takedown bolt affects accuracy. I was annoying a few people on the range with it because I was using the winchester bulk ammo.

I was keeping the M4 on the 8" target standing and with the open sight until the rear sight loosened up.

whoops I was thinking of a .270 I had lol sorry. I have alot of shootin papers from various ammunitions. The Winchesters for me out performed Remington, hornady, federal etc. But the cost to shoot them is crazy. About 32$ for 20rounds of .270. Smallest group I ever held with a single shot NEF medium bull .270 was about .875" with the winchesters on a 5 shot grouping. Scope was a 4x12x44mm nikon.
