i was just kind of wondering what people thought of the different kind of superchargers. i know most of you like the wynjammer. but what do you think about roots and screw type superchargers?

Thats where I'm from , old school roots style. I sold the only SC style one I ever owned shortly after getting it because I just couldnt get use to RPM dependant boost and also no noise. There is nothing like being into max boost right off throttle tipin while the blower belt whines!!

No Doubt, thats exactly why i wouldnt buy a powerdyne or others cuz there too quiet, and from what video i've seen...the jammer is not exactly quiet which excites me to no end!! I cant wait to blow by some unsuspecting ricer on the freeway and hear that whistle biatch!!!! :slomo:

I don't like the whine (sounds too rice)! As for the other types of Superchargers for our trucks, the only twinscrew is for the TBI 4.3L and the Roots are for the carb'd ones. However I have driven a Magnacharged(roots) C5 Corvette, and holy s**t that was great! I'm all for max boost off the line, it's just not availble for our trucks, and traction would be a *****.

For me, that whine brings back memories of my '67 Chevelle. . . 396 BBC, punched and stroked, blown, forged internals, RADICAL cam, ported and polished heads, fully balanced, 8-71 Weiand and dual Holley 950s sitting up top. . . Add a 250 hp shot of nitrous and that bugger would SCOOT.

The whine isn't rice to me. . . It brings back the Muscle Car Nostalgia for me. But, we all have our opinions and are entitled to them.

I just think the high pitched whine interferes with the throty sound of the engine. I have a '70 Chevelle that I drag race at my uncles place. It has a blown 540 BBC puting out 1200hp. Holley does a decent job of lowering the noise from their blowers it's hard to hear. Besides having the whine on a full out drag car and having it on a street driven truck is two different thing all together. A whine on the street would drive ME nuts!

my friend has a vortec on his mustang and that thing whines so loud. you can here him coming from a mile away but when you sit in the car its not that loud. it just annoys the hell out of other people.

I dont think you can actually call a supercharger a supercharger without the whine. Superchargers have made that whine since way back when (before the import scene was supposedly cool). Considering calling the whine ricey is about the stupidest thing Ive ever heard since its been around alot longer than import racing has been. In fact I think it is exactly the opposite and ricey cars coppied off of muscle cars with their little turbos and s/c's. The whine in a 4 cyl honda is only from the gerbils running really fast on their little wheels.

I wouldn't go that far. . . Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But, yes, muscle cars and that distinctive blower whine go hand in hand to my mind. But, I wouldn't say that thinking the S/C whine is ricey is "stupid" -- can lead to misunderstandings. . .

And, you're wrong on one thing: it's not a Honda. . . It's a HonDUH! LMFAO!!
