What would cause my speedo to peg itself and stay there? It threw a code.

what was the code?

Don't know I don't have a code reader, I just assume it threw a code, when the speedo peg 100 and stays there.

The service engine soon light came on. I tried the battery disconnect trick, but it didn't do anything, tried resetting trip odometer that didn't fix it either.

No ABS light though, could it be a speed sensor? or could the cluster fried?

They don't have loaner code readers at O'Reilly's? Auto Zone and Advanced auto stores usually have scanners they use to read codes for customers. Find out what the code is first is what I would do.

Will it read being that the pcm is sorta tuned, because of the Jammer?

Yeah it'll read fine.

We have one that you can rent, not for us to do, when people want it done, I've never used one before, you just plug it in the port don't ya, and follow instructions?

Basically. Plug it in, turn it on, turn the trucks key to the on position, scan then post the code here. :)

check your fuses also, the fuse for the dash. when the fuse blows the speedo does that.

What fuse would that be? for the cluster? I checked the gauges and cluster and they are good

specificly it is fuse 19 15 amp radio battery (inside fuse box). that caused my speedo to do the same thing, on my 99. had do with small radio system i have. wired both amps thru the stock radio battery supply. would blow the fuse when turned up the radio to loud.

Ok this dadgum thing is really goofy, why in the world would the radio/battery fuse have anything to do with the gauges?

I went out to check the #19 radio/battery fuse like 99X4Blazer said to do, the fuse was ok, BUT, when I put the fuse back in, it made a funny noise, and the gas gauge jumped just a little bit, so I removed the fuse, and put it back in, made the funny noise again, and the gauges jumped around a bit,I did this 3rd time, and the speedo went back to 0.

What the heck is up with this thing? I've never seen anything like this. Am I getting a bad connection at the battery? Or maybe a bad connection in the fuse box? For it didn't blow the fuse, I just removed the thing 3 times and it's back to normal.

This is just crazy, did it re-set itself or something?

Hey, sorry I missed this earlier. Just so you know I believe that programmer you have with the wynjammer can read codes for you as well. Check the manual.

As for the weird fuse stuff, could just be a bad ground somewhere.

Yes sir your right, I forgot all about that, got the speedo back to 0,gonna see what happens from here, lol lol also gonna check the battery a bit later to see if there is some hanky panky going on there too.

On my boost gauge when I ran the ground wire for the light, I just hooked to one of the screws holding in the radio, surely that wouldn't have cause the glitch would it?

Still got the Service Engine Soon light though, how do I get rid of that?

Ah ok, I did the programmer, no more service engine light, checked for codes, no problems detected, I also noticed that I will have to change the gear ratio thingy when the 3.73's are installed.

I'll have to make sure and tell the guy that I will have to reprogram the PCM and let him know what's going on, lol he may wanna test drive it.

Could've been a bit of corrossion on the fuse terminals causing the trouble and removing the fuse 3 times was just enough friction to clean off enough of the corrossion to make the contacts good again.

Good point,... sorta like my fuel pump relay,it had some corrosion on it freaked me out, thought I'd done lost a pump.
