I'm new to stereo's and i just bought a sub and amp and i was wondering where do i connect the remote turn on wire for the amp on the wiring harness on the head unit? Is it the solid blue wire that is't connected to anything on the harness or the blue/white wire?

I have a picture of the harness if that helps:

Remote should be the blue/white wire

The remote wire on an aftermarket head unit (radio/cd player) is 99% of the time Blue, with a white tracer (or stripe, what ever one you want to call it). You hook that to the "Remote Turn On" or "REM" wire/hookup point on your amp.

Hope that clears the muddy water a little for ya.

Some just have one blue which is on when the radio is altogether. Others have both. One has power for a fm antenna when the radio tuner is on, and the other is amp turn on when the radio is on alltogether.
Usually blue-white is amp

Looks like a Sony or JVC harness. Which are the same on some years except pin configuration. The sleeve in the kit lookss like a newer sony sleeve.
Sony would be blue - ant and blue/white - amp

its for a aiwa/sony head unit so would it be the blue/white wire and the amp is a kicker zx300.

does anyone have any pictures of how they spliced into the blue/white wire with the remote turn on wire, just trying to get some ideas?

there should have been a wire with a crimped end, with a giant label with REMOTE WIRE on it,ive only ever seen blue wires but there could be a blue and white wire, did you buy it new or used?

I use crimp caps. But strip, twist, solder and tape is also good. Or use a male-female connectors to be able to unhook later if needed

As posted, some manufacturers have both and some have just the std remote out.
Not all are labeled.

The other blue wire, as stated before is for a power antenna, like what they put on some cars, mostly older Caddilacs and Fords, where the antenna would raise or lower depending on what position the ignition was in. Useless feature if you ask me.

The point of it on factory applications is that if u were to go to a carwash and have the power antenna, you can turn the radio off and the antenna go down. So that the carwash doesnt break it off.

Any wiring I do, I strip, twist, solder, and heat shrink. If I have a few connections to make, I always stagger my connectons my an inch, so there isnt a big lump in the wiring harness where all the splices and heat shrink is.
If your unfamilier with soldering wires together, try it outside of the truck first a couple times on a spare chunk of wires will you get it right and neat looking. You dont want gobs of solder that looks like its going to drip off the wire. I usually soulder the wire, then give it a small flick with my finger to shake loose any extra liquid solder. I can get a small HT video tomorrow if you would like.
