View Full Version : ZQ8 Static Drop
Does anybody know if a 2" drop spindle will cause any clearance problems on a zq8 sonoma? Iam also running slightly bigger tires, 245/50R16. Also I heard of people breaking the ball joints soon after, is that common when installing a drop spindle? One last thing, do you have to change your shocks? I woudnt think so, its the same amount of travel on the suspension, its just that the spindle is located higher, right?

you may have slight rubbing on full turn. never heard of the balljoint problem. those people may have needed new ones to begin with idk. and you dont need to change your shocks but check the ones you have, if they look worn then i would. but like you said suspension travel is going to stay the same so newer ones arent needed

slight rubbing on the inner fenderwell should be expected with a wider tire , but for all other intents and purposes there will be no other porblems . providing you use quality components there should not be any part breaking .

you will be ok, but you will rub at full lock and possible on large bumps.
you dont need new shocks
your ball joints will be fine if you dont ruin them during the installation, you will need an allignment, spindles throw the toe out pretty good
always get an alignment after suspension work
