my ad244 question

i just got one... i had it tested at car quest and o reileys... both told me that its putting off a low charge?

is this cuz the ride i got it from was probably sitting there for a long a s s time u think? or this probly a bad alteernator?

i havent got a belt yet... getting it tomorrow? think when i get it on and it starts it will bring it more to life? or is it on its last legs?

i got it for 50$

I don't think it will just come back to life... The one I got jumped right off. I bought it and took it to napa and they load tested it and it kicks azz...
It is the best mod yet...

Did you have it load tested? I know places like Advance just check the volts. If you get it load tested it will tell you what it is putting out amps and volts on a load..

One other thing. If and when you put one in you want to do the big three. The stock wires are not big enough for it...

Coming from an electrician with experience in DC and AC the stock wiring aint big enough for the stock 105 amp alt.

yea true here... i notoced when pulling this 130 ad244 out that it also had i beleive to be 8ga wire,,, so im sure mine can handle it,, but yes i am planning on doing the big 3 for sure... 1/0 is what im going to do. . .

no i didnt even ask this... i was just told it was putting out low.... and that it will work if i put it on but it will probably kill my battery over time is what the guy said...

i read some where the same thing bout the dr44... well i got in touch with the guy.. he said its cool if i bring it back on monday for a refund.. so that makes me happy... im just pissed that i cant get a hold of one of these yet.. im really considering just buying a new one... when i get the extra money that is.... i do know that i cannot put my intrepid fan on until i do this cuz my lights and everything else are way dim already just with my 4 fog lights and regualr lights and sound sytem. every1! keep aan eye out for one of these for me .. lol

I didnt read this whole thread...
But I recently bought a 200amp AD244 from Tuff Stuff

all I needed was a belt that was an inch longer. I pressed the belt tensioner in, removed the belt, remove the old alternator with a prybar, pounded in new larger alternator, put on new belt... Done...

Not really a step by step, but you get the idea.
I can now run everything (including the winch), and the needle barely drops...

If you are pumping a cs144 enough to over heat it you have problems. Those are what they put in most ambulances and police cars for a long time. Guys that run keydown contests on CBs swear by them.

as far as pounding the alternator in... that was the only way it was going to work. I used a block of wood, and my hammer... it was a tight squeeze.
the original alt was already a PITA to get out...

Hmm I don't think I've ever had to bea one in and out. Your brackets aitn bent or anything is it? Maybe dirt holding in the bracket that needs to be cleaned?

All you have to do is open up the lock pins a little. then it slides out and the new one drops right in. At least thats how all the ones I put in went.
