I was home on vacation last week and took a drive in my dad's trailblazer (not sure on the year). I noticed that the factory headunit looked identical to the one in my 'noma except that it was mp3/wma compatible. Anyone know if this is a straight-forward swap? Was this offered in s-series?

I'm perfectly content with the function/look of the factory headunit but being able to play mp3 discs would be convenient.

don't think they were offered in s series but i would it would be a direct swap, i would think whatever makes it mp3 compatable is internal

Mine didn't. Mine came with the RDS CD and tape crap. No MP3 support tho.
Did you try a mp3? I have rds too. Thats all I play in mine...

I wonder why. Mine is a year older than yours and it plays mp3. I don't understand that one...

Now I'm wondering if mine will play MP3s!? I'll feel like a tool if it could do it all along! I can burn mp3's to cd format and play them but I've never tried it with just a cd full of mp3 format files.

They have the same mounting ears.
The harness is the same plug but you need to check for some differences when getting a donor radio. Does it have BOSE or MONSOON

I kept the kenwood that was in my ole Blazer to put in the crew. But when I got the crew I said if the stock headunit will play mp3's I will keep it. Well it plays mp3 so I sold the kenwood...
