Just wondering if anyone knows if the ECM has a sense line to the EGR even when it's inactive? I'm going to remove the valve and vacuum lines since the ECM program I'm using has it disabled anyhow. I just wonder if I can remove the solenoid, or if one of the three lines is a sense line that will cause it to set a code if it's disconnected?

I guess I could always just unplug it and see what happens, but I'm too lazy to go take a drive right now :D

Only the electric ones sense via wiring is actively hooked up or not. Vacuum ones use MAP and 02 readings to see if its working, and since yours is deleted I cant think of anything that would know !

Sounds good. I just need to find a block-off plate now. I've still got my Ramad-brand limiter, maybe I can get a machine shop to make one minus the holes!

Got a tap set????? Tap the holes to the nearest fitting tap, not all the way through and set screw it!!!! Making sure the set screws are placed and tapped so if they did come undone, which I doubt, wouldn't fall into the intake, just rattle on the top of the limiter plate!!

Finally did this, here's some before and after pics. Pulled off the valve, the vacuum lines to and from the EVRV solenoid, and capped the vacuum port on the TBI. I left the EVRV solenoid on for the moment, until I'm sure it won't be throwing any codes with it removed. I've drived a few times with it unplugged and the ECM hasn't noticed, so I'll probably pull it off next weekend once I'm convinced.

If anything, this was worth the effort for the next time I need to change a burned-out EGR gasket. It's MUCH easier to take out two socket cap screws than try to turn those 3/8" bolts about 5* at a time. Looks a lot cleaner, too. I'm thinking about painting the recessed area black to match the valve covers, but I'm not sure how paint will react to the temp's it's going to see, and what kind of paint will adhere well to aluminum. Oh well, just brainstorming.

There is a variable in the PROM that tells it at what % throttle to open the EGR valve in closed loop. We set it to 0%, as idle is at least 5%, so it will never open. You'll have to burn a custom chip to have this done, though.

What equipment did you use to burn the eprom.I have thought about buying Xtronic's Pocket Programmer and just burn all of my own eproms.Which would pay for it's self if I started burning them to sell to other OBDI vehicles.I allready have my own editor that I think would work to right the file to burn.

Like I said, I was making sure the ECM wasn't going to go ape**** on me with that 3-pin connector unhooked. It hasn't cared so far, so I'll have to get a socket out when I've got some free time and pull it off and tuck the wire somewhere inconspicuous.
