question about pulling an engine and tranny

Has anyone ever pulled the engine and transmission out of a first gen s10 4x4 with a 4.3? More specifically can it be pulled as one unit, without separating the engine from the transmission? Thanks for the help, I am currently deployed and trying to decide what to do to my truck when I get back.

The only way I could get the driveline out of my 91 S10 Blazer was to remove the t-case first. I had the front clip off of the truck as well.
