Had fuel pressure issues and replaced the pump(delphi), it now has the required 55-60 psi at the valve. The 4.3 still won't start unless you pour gas into the intake, then it starts instantly. Has any one had this problem before? Please help! It has been sitting with a dead battery for three years so there are no trouble codes to be found.

i think there is a prime circuit on my 97 so the pump comes on with the key in run position and when the oil pressure sensor gets the signal that theres oil pressure it also turns another circuit on to run the fuel pump .......do you hear the fuel pump turn on as if it was priming (not turning over just turning the key to run )also whats the injecters like sometimes if they sit the diaphraghm inside gets hard and wont release fuel ?

I believe shane is right, there is something to do with an oil pressure sensor and the fuel pump. Somewhere around here is a thread or two explaining that..

Guys thanks for all your help, it was much appreciated.I changed my oil pressure switch and my truck would only start for only 1 to 2 seconds.
After a little research I found out about the gm passlock security system,
apparently it needed reset (leave key on for 10 min.)My truck runs great now which a'int bad for sitting for 3 years (and it was free!) It ran rough for a little while (gummy injectors) but with very little fuel and a strong mix of injector cleaner it finally settled down. Fyi partshighway.com has genuine delphi parts cheaper than the crap pumps or spider injector setups that auto zone or advance auto parts has to offer. (245$ for delphi pump with upgraded wiring harness, includes crimps and wiring diagrams with nothing else to buy, spider conversions are pretty damn cheap too). I'll leave you with my favorite biker saying, "KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN".

That was prolly my thread or write up you read..if you read it here on this forum. My 05 Jimmy does its stupid Passlock thing all the time. I need a new ignition cylinder...it sets the passlock thing off all the time. Did it to me last week...sucks when your in a hurry tho, and you gotta sit there in the cold waiting for the damn thing to relearn its self.

The only reason I agreed with shane on your 1st post was because the problem you described didnt sound anything like the passlock lockup.

Most times its the ignition cylinders fault.
