Hello,

I need help with my 1996 S-10Extended cab,2wd,4.3V6,Auto. I recently replaced the stock 308 rearend with a 342 rearend and since then my speedometer is off and have trouble with 4 wheel ABS and wheelock when braking. Have replaced rear brake cylinders and shes and drums, even took to a shop(they could not figure it out!) Any help is greatly appreciated. Truck is great other than that!

Got to http://wait4meperformance.com/ Then click on contacts and give them a holler. They can program your PCM for the lower gears whick will correct your speedo. Ask them about the ABS problems to and see what they say. To tune you PCM they charge $75. They will tune it and give you a little more power too. They upgrade are free so if you change something later it'll only cost you shipping. The $75 is just for tuning your PCM. So if you don't want to take it out and have your truck sit for a week. You will have to pay a core charge and they'll send you a programmed PCM for your truck. It will be refunded when you send them your pcm. IIRC the core charge is $75-$80.

Did you take a look @ the backing plates-sometimes they get a wear groove in the landing, the side of the shoes slide/rub on those small raised area's. I ve seen some with deep grooves and the shoes will bind and may cause them to be grabby.
I know -hehe what terminology-

I hate to say it but any chance the shoe are installed wrong-as in reversed-dont hammer me for askin please-:) but sometimes in a hurry or distacted people reverse the shoes. I'm guilty of messin up when my mind is elsewhere.

Thanks for the tip on PCM reprogramming. Could the fact that the PCM is not programmed for the 342 affect the ABS?

Sticking or binding e brake cables-maybe even over tightened e brake cable,

Im more apt to think that the primary and secondary shoes are reversed.. Is it both rear wheels locking up, or just 1? What kind of shape are the axle seals in? If you have a bad axle seal, and its leaking gear oil into the drum and getting it all over the shoes, that will cause your brakes to be grabby too.

When in doubt, post a few pics..they always help.
