I am planning on getting my truck tinted and my ext. cab pop out windows are scratched from the previous owner. The tint technician informed me that if I tint these windows, it will only show the scratches better.
I am looking to replace the glass in these windows and it is difficult to locate. What would you call these?

Does anyone know of a place, besides a salvage yard, where I could buy these new or used for cheap?
Also, how in the hell do you get these things in/out. I will be replacing the seals as well when I do it.
Thanks for the help up front!

I would think the salvage yards would be your best bet. Dunno why you prefer not to purchase them there. Possibly GM direct or LMC. Might get lucky on Ebay.
Mine came factory tinted, no issues with scratches showing. In fact, the only times I have seen scratches on tint, it was crummy tint.
Well I'm not against salvage yards, I just haven't found any that have these or understand what I am talkin about !
LMC and a local place both are $80 each for the glass. I might as well buy new seals as well so theres another $60. It's ridiculous that I can pay safelite to install a new rear window for $150 and they want $450 to install these little side windows!
The windows themselves are just the stock tint from the factory, which is a coating I believe. It is hard to explain but the glass is scratched and doesn't look good. If I tint them, the scratches will only show up worse.
Any explanation of how to remove these things?

Sometimes you can use steel wool to buff out scratches.
I might try that eventually. I just dont' know if its on the inside or the outside. It looks like it is a scratch in the coating of the window.
Anyone seen this before?

You can see outsied window scratches with tint because of the contrast of the whiteish scratches to the dark tint. Happened on my TA. They do make scratch buffing compounds for glass if it isnt too deep. ( Check Eastwood Co. )

I thought the factory tint was within the glass itself?
Exactly! That is why I am confused as to what these scratches are and if they are on the outside of the glass, or if they are on the inside from someone scraping aftermarket tint off.
I really just want to get this truck tinted and make these windows presentable.
I may try some of that coumpound.

Factory is smoked glass isn't it?
yeah it has a light tint to it. The problem is that either the inside or outside is showing scratches.
If there is a way to polish/remove the scratches I would be all for trying that before paying for these windows because they are expensive!:hypnotize

After doing some research I see that some people have had problems like this before. They recommend several different ways to attempt to polish glass and remove the scratches.
Does anyone on here have any experience in trying to polish (remove light scratches or streaks) from tempered auto glass?
Any knowledge or input is greatly appreciated.
