so guys.. im gettig a wrecked bravada for a parts car.. im goig to take all interior things out and put in my sonoma. very excited. gonna pick it up hopefully on the 1st. heres my questions...
can i use the axle for my somoma? i know its wider.. which should be good right? i was gonna be adding a 1 inch spacer soon to mt truck to get the back tires to mtach my fronts.. so this will prevet this now... and best part im going to have rear discs in the back... i shouldnt have many problems right? and also.... since im talking about this.... can i use the front dual piston calipers and xfer those to the sonoma? i shouldnt have many problems there either right?
it is a 1997 bravada and my truck is a 2002 sonoma
edit: i just reread this and realized i cant spell.. oh well.... ha

For the brakes you'll have to take spindles and all to make it work. The rear axle will be 2" wider on each side but it will bolt up IIRC.

Bravada means its AWD, so yes the axle is wider.
I guess you mean you are going to add 1" spacers all the way around? But now only on the front since the axle is wider?
With the axle and 2WD wheels, your wheels will stick out quite a bit. Like on mine as you know I used the 1" spacer out back. That got the edge of the 255-50-16 tire even with the fender lip as opposed to inset like it was stock. With that axle/wheel setup, your tires are going to protrude more.
IMO, get a pair of 1" spacers. Stack them both on one side and install the wheel/tire. Just to get an idea of how far the tires are gonna be stuck out. See if you like that before you go doing the axle swap.
The brake stuff will swap over. So you could convert your drum rear to disc.
Like Tyson said, up front you will be going to the other spindles like the Bravada has. The Bravada is 4WD which poses a issue.
Heres the deal. 2WD std brakes uses a std spindle with the hub/rotor as the secondary peice. 2WD 4 disc brake uses a spindle, seperare bearing hub and then the seperate hat-style rotor. 4WD 4 disc uses the same as the latter only the hub is also connected as the axle assembly.
I think you can still use the Bravadas spindle, caliper. But you will need to get a 2WD bearing hub. But Im not 100% on that. You may need a complete 2WD hub bearing and spindle assembly instead.
In other words, the caliper is the only usable oart for you as I see it.

ok guys.ty much...
so this part... So you could convert your drum rear to disc." so i can just use the rear stuff with my current axle? is that right? and that seems a bit tuff on the front... are there any after market spidles that would allow me to do it easier? is there a way to just use the caliper? im assuming no cuz its a bit bigger than my stock 2wd disc. thank guys

I don't think the front brakes swap straight. I also don't think you can use the spindles either. 4wd spindles are different than the 2wds. Not sure if you can just bolt a 2wd hub bearing into the 4wd spindle. Also I do know you can't use the calipers alone as the bolt pattern for the brakets are diffent from the bravada spindles. To get it all to work brake wise you may even need to swap the hard lines as I think those too are different from the trucks to the suv's. But I could just be really tired and totally wrong:) I can say this for sure, I have just managed to thourolly confused the s out of myself. :( however the interior should be pretty straight foward for the swapping. Minus the headliner of course.
