i recently recieved my alternator from Iraggi Alternator ,and decided to do a review on it .
i had heard that iraggi alts were the best out there . so i decided to try one . so i contacted them . myself and Dom ( owner of iraggi alt.) went over what i needed for my truck which is a daily driver that is used for SPL comps . we talked about my audio equipment and my future plans for the truck . since it is to be a daily driver for quite some time we settled on a 260amp alternator with external voltage regulator .
within a couple weeks (due to complications from UPS) i recieved my alt . usual build time according to dom is 2 days , from that time i would allow 3-5 days for shipping depending on location .
well i got it and opened her up , very well constructed and looks similar to a stock full size GM alt ( due to the size of the alt it could not fit in a smaller case though small cases are available ) the average person could not tell the difference when installed .
installation on this unit required special brackets(included) to adapt to the mounting points for the smaller case alt . installation was simple and everything bolted up exactly how it waz supposed to . though i had to make a call to Dom to be sure since there is a lack of instructions . once bolted up it waz time to run wire . 1/0 guage wire is suggested by dom , along with upgrading the big 3 . so i used 1/0 guage wire from American Bass . (very flexible wire BTW , not as flexible as the new Kicker wire but still surprised me )with the wiring done it waz time to install the external regulator . very straight forward installation here , instructions included . the regulator was then set to charge @ 14.4 volts .
with everything installed and wired up it waz time to test . we had run a baseline result of 147.6 on the linear X metering system , with my current setup of 2-10W7s and a memphis ST1500D on the stock alt playing 40hz
with the new alternator at idle and @ 14.4 volts we burped out a 148.4 . not too bad .
we run quite a few other tests heres the results all tests were with the same equipment as the above .
14.4v @ 2000 RPM - 148.6 :voltage drop to 14.3v
15.0v @ idle - 148.7: voltage drop to 14.8v
15.0v @ 2000 RPM -148.9 : voltage drop to 14.9v
15.2v @ 2000 RPM - 149.4 :voltage drop to 15.1v
this alternator did quite a good job . i have seen other alts give out when under such conditions . where this one kept goin for another hr or 2 of testing with other amps and subs . this is by far the most SOILD alternator i have owned , while also being in the affordable bracket .
when it comes to price Iraggi alterantor wins . iraggi alts are steadily 20-50 less than the competition .
