i found a freshly wrecked 2001 2wd 2 door jimmy. im going to grab the gage thing up top that shows mpg, trip, etc. the seats are the same color as my truck im grabbing those. they are the folding ones and are bucket seats. im very excited about those. im going to grab the front brakes. they are the dual pistons ones. they are direct swap correct guys?
also i want to get the rear end. because its got rear disc brakes. should i just get the full rear end out of it? or should i just get the brake assembly? thatde be a nice upgrade too right guys? if you can think of aything else i should grab let me know. i found this thing while i was looking for a 5.3 motor. guess imma grab this stuff for now.
i also found a s10 with this rear. TRANSMISSION,MANUAL,5 SPEED,NVG,85 MM,3.49 1ST,O/D NV3500 5-SPD M/TRANS(M50) it says 85mm. is that the 8.5 rear end? its out of a 1995 s10.

No code for the 8.5 that I know of.
Grab the whole rear if the gears work out for you. Check your RPO's and compare the two gears. May be the same. If you have say 3:42 and it has 3:73 then it's a performance upgrade, again.
F the front brakes IMO
If it has the dark grey (graphite) interior grab me the dash speaker grills if you don't mind. PM me with payment info.

ill look at the grills for you.. i need some type of upgrade on my brakes. im gonna grab em.. reason i need em i am gonna to the 5.3 swap . so i want somethig better.. the vette has the same type of brakes. the divorced what you call em. so i dont know know. the gears in the 95 are smaller than 3:42's. the rear brakes on the jimmy are the ssame.. but it doesnt say they arre g80 . which sucks. i thought they all came with the g80. im assuming not. maybe ill still braab the whole thing ad use that as my project to add a torsen and my 3:73s i have. hmm. but when i do the 5.3 swap im going to wanta bigger axle no? thats why i was looking for the 8.5.

X2. Just keep your stuff off your truck incase you end up needing new bearing hubs and don't feel like spending around $400 for a new pair....

Oh BTW! I think that s10's with M.T. and 4.3's came with the 8.5 rears.

Oh BTW! I think that s10's with M.T. and 4.3's came with the 8.5 rears.98+ but it was spuratic(spell check said FU). Some Blazers got it, some ZQ8 trucks but not all. No RPO code that I can find.

S10 factory drum and disc assemblies for rear don't directly interchange. The rear end housings are different. If you want factory rear discs, best grab whole rear.

8.5 first appeared in 1994 in S-series pickups.

Actually, I will step back somewhat on this statement. The end of an early 4x4 drum rear is different from a later 4x4 disc rear, so the above statement holds true. It appears that 4x4 disc 7.5/7.625, 8.5 and ZR2 are common and interchange.
It is my understanding that there are differences between 4x4 and 4x2 rear disc hardware and I have not seen and cannot comment on interchange of 4x2 drum to 4x2 disc interchange.
One thing is for sure, you cannot put later disc on 1st gen S10 that doesn't have 4 bolt backing plates, 92 has 4 bolt, 90 does not, 91 I do not know.
Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.

Well, you are partially correct.
The 2wd and 4wd have the same:
Caliper
Pads
caliper mount
backing plate
caliper bracket
parking break
The only difference between the 2wd and 4wd are the rotors and the axle shafts, to stick out farther for the 4x4 offset.
The difference between the 2wd disc and 2wd drum is 1/4", yeah 1/4". The axle shaft on a disc rear is 1/4" longer. To put a full disc rear system on a drum rear end you need to put 1/4" spacers between the axle housing and the mount/backing plate.
Just search the "Brake" section for more info on changing a drum to disc rear. There are quite a few posts there already with the same question, and plenty of pics.
The 1/4" spacers you need are here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/REAR-DISC-BRAKE-SPACER-FOR-CHEVY-BLAZER-S10-CONVERSION_W0QQitemZ390142246975QQcmdZViewItemQQpt ZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5ad64 a403f)

Good info. My dad ran into the rotor issue on his 99 4x4 pickup. He bought a pair of 4x2 rotors off ebay. Needless to say, they didn't work.
Like drum S10, I assume the (non ZR-2) 4x4 disc housing is significantly wider than the 4x2, approximately 4 inches on the drum trucks.

85mm refers to the manual trans... I know that much, but please don't ask what specifically.
The 2WD disc rear is something you should grab, even if you don't want it... as others out there will.
Does it have the thick-padded (But not leather-wrapped!) steering-wheel in dark graphite or black? I've been looking for one of those.
