just wondering if 255 60 15s would be too much to put on a 15x7 rim. im not worried about rubbing cuz its for the back. im just worried that the tire might be too wide for 7 inch rims and have a messed up wear pattern.

i had 245 60s on my 7 inch rims before and had them a little over inflated and they wore out real quick. this summer i'd like to go 255 if i can with lower psi. you guys think itll work?

i've got 245/70's on my front and rear and they have been wearing fine (until i lowered it and didn't get a front end alignment). but i'm not sure if mine are 7" what ever comes on a 93 4x4. they didnt even rub till i lowered it and they dont rub that bad right now.

if you do get 255's on there keep me updated because i would like to do wider and if they work that would be great. thanks

I think it would be too wide on a 7" rim. These are 255/60/15's on an 8" rim. They have a little of bulge to them. If you brought the wheel in a 1/2" each side it would really be balooned out.

yeah, the tire recomendations say from 7-8.5 inch rims but i just didnt quite trust it. thats why i asked to see if anyone else has had experience with it. if all else fails then im just goin with 245s again...runnin lower psi of course.

and as mentioned above. that is a kick ass wheel and tire combo

My uncle runs 255/70-15's on his fullsize p.u. w/15x7 wheels and there isn't a noticeable bulge. Actually they look narrower than 255 but that's probably due to variance among tire manufacturers. I used to have 275/60-15 on 15x8 wheels on my S10 and running 30 psi the center of the tread wore way faster than the rest of the tire - I backed it down to 25 psi but the damage was already done. Swapped those out for some 255/70-15 to try for better mileage. Not sure about the mileage increase but they hop a little where the 275's didn't. Not a "shake the car" hop, just audible when I fry the tires.

I ran 255 60 15's on my stock 7 inch rims. in the back they won't rub. in the front they will. if you run 32-35 psi the center of the tire will wear faster and get worse traction. 25 psi and it wears even and grips pretty good.

My wife's Cherokee runs 255/70's on 15x7 rims with no problems. They were on there when we bought it in 2002, no problems with uneven wear so far.

yeah my centers wore out first. the edge of the tire is like brand new but im half way into the wear bar in the center and i was runnin bout 35 psi. so i wont make that mistake again.

i guess ill try 255s, thanks for the info guys.

I ran those wheels for a couple of years. I loved them but I'm much happier with my 18's.

No, sold at a swapmeet last winter. I bought everything new and ended up getting back what i paid for originally. You gotta love wheels that'll look good on anything.

I got them through a local Wheel Vintique dealer at a swapmeet. I think I paid about $250 for wheels and centers. No shipping, no tax helped.

Not that i look at it, it was $250 for the wheels and $60 for the caps. They are full chrome so their are no trim rings. So about $310 for the set 0f 4.

My dad has been telling me that I should go with them old rally wheels for my S-10 because they would look good, and they are really cheap. I didn't think they would look good, but now that I look at them, they do look good! If I get a set of those, I could save myself an assload of money.
