been looking into the 3.4l swap. thought before i run around trying to find a camaro/firebird for a descent price id look into what can be done with the stock motor. also my gas pedal is like stepping on a brick anybody have i deas on how i can change that?
With our 83, we removed all the emissions and computer crap, but if you are in CA, you probably can't do that.
On the stiff gas pedal, try changing to a lighter spring on the carb.

i was thinking the same about the spring. i don't have the slightest idea how or what to do to get my hands on the one i need or how to know which one i need. could use anybodys help. also since my truck came from arizona i believe i could take out the emmisions because of lack of computer. what kind of difference did that make on ur 83???

Get some heads off a fuel injected engine, doesn't matter if its a 2.8, 3.1, or 3.4 as long as its a RWD engine with iron heads. The fuel injected injected engines got larger valves and flow a small bit better than the carb heads.
Cam, roller rockers, headers, and carb swap. You can do most any thing we FI guys can do.

agreed with neo also maybe a edelbrock intake and with that you can still retain the stock carb i noticed a big difference when i did mine with the FI heads, roller rockers, cam swap, and i had headers made for mine

Better off to get a 3.4 and save the cash for it.
If ya was closer I'd give ya a set of 3.4 heads since I guess the guy I first gave them to don't need them now. I'm not dealing with the headaches of shipping a set of iron heads tho.

Your questions aint annoying, most the time its dead in this section.
Price is gonna depend on your area and how you shop. I'm a cheap ass so I compare everything and try to get the best deal. The hedman headers I have I got off ebay cheap from a guy that was trying to put them on a jeep but found out they wouldn't fit. Most the rest of my parts I got on sale or some type of money saving deal.

theres a junk yard right down the street from me thats got blazers ans s10s galore. there is also a 91 firebird v6. i think its a 3.1l no sticker on door. i can probably invest about 800 or so into it right now and want to make sure its spent wisely. i use my truck for daily driving and can't afford to have it down for longer than a week at the most. i just want to beef it up a bit.
