I've spent enough time working on the GO! Now it's time to work on the STOP!

Just ordered an SSBC "Front Short Stop (http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/products/detail/3173/?make=Chevrolet&model=S-10+%282WD%29&year=1998)" kit from Summit (my wife got me a $500 Summit Gift Card, my front pads are 90% worn and there isn't enough on the card for the rear disc conversion I want). It won't ship until 4/22 (backordered), but it'll get here soon enough -- just in time for race season!

Not bad, though: my FACTORY pads lasted 6+ years and 40K miles of racing. . . Speaks well for either my driving style or the factory brake pads!

It'll only be a matter of time before THIS (http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/products/detail/537/?make=Chevrolet&model=S-10+(2WD)&year=1998) will be mine, though! From that point, I want to upgrade the front to THESE (http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/products/detail/2831/?make=Chevrolet&model=S-10+%282WD%29&year=1998)! And then some stainless steel brake lines to finish it all off. I'll be able to stop on a dime and make change!

The Gift Card was supposed to be for a tonneau cover, but she got it from Summit (instead of Stylin' Concepts, where the tonneau is!). The tonneau is more for show (as will be the BedRug I want to go with it) -- but a clean, UNSCRATCHED & UNDENTED, polished, waxed and nice SHINY bed is more impressive in my eyes. The tonneau and rug will come soon enough, though -- next year. Right now, I'm more pumped for RACE season than show season, so my mods are focused on that.

Minor note: I don't like used parts, even though they save a bundle -- which is why I haven't gone to a scrap yard for a Blazer axle to do the rear swap.

Off-hand, does anyone know if any Blazers with rear-discs had 8.5" rear ends? I'm NOT swapping axles (8.5" axle with 3.73 Richmond gears and locking diff -- no WAY I'm swapping that out!), but I could easily cannibalize the rear brake system!
