I've noticed the past few times I've used 4-Hi it will stay engaged for quite a while after I shift it back to 2-Hi. Is this that damned vacuum actuator?
It engages right away, no delay at all. Just takes it sweet time switching back.

sounds like the vacuum actuator to me.
I know those trucks have problems with those things

I've always heard that the 4WD will engage slowly or not at all when it goes out, though. Just trying to make sure since it's not a $2 part...

There is a vent cap that gets clogged. Looks like the vent cap on the rear-end. Usually mounted on the firewall. The vent exists for vacuum release.

So that's what that's for...I thought it was just a front diff vent. I'll have to clean that thing out and test it out.
Thanks for the heads-up
