I have a s10 blazer 4.3 vortec cpi. back in Dec i ran out of gas and my truck start to idle hard. so we changed the fuel filter and it ran better but slowly started to get worse. i had been driving for 2 hours and all the sudden started to lose power as if the timming belt had broke. pulled over for a second the tried to start car up. it started up so i drove another 10 min and then it did it again. so headed home made it with no problems. pulled the fuel pump to check the sock. replaced sock car still idled heavly and ran rich. decided to do a tune up change the plugs the wires the cap and roter. car started up sounded a lot better ran five min or so died and would not start again. pulled plug #2 to check if it would fire got nothing. so changed coil and still nothing pulled ignition module it tested bad. so replaced it and still nothing. if you have any ideas please let me know. Then thought it might be a alarm syst brain issue so checked to see if it was still hooked up. was not but found a few out of place going no where wires so pulled out. if there is a hort causing this were else should i look

Year model, engine and such would help. Also check t the coil for spark, SES light on and any DTC's also maybe a suggestion if its a 4.3 check the crank position sensor.
Oh yeah welcome to the Planet, Enjoy.

I was told that it does not have a crank position sensor.

No crank sensor to my knowledge!. The 3 things an engine needs to function is air, fuel and spark; with that being said, you already checked the fuel pump. Try checking if there's spark passing through the plug wires. Otherwise check it on an oscilloscope. Make sure the air filter is clean and there are no restrictions in the intake pathway. Check fuel pump pressure & volume. Make sure there are no kinks in the fuel line, there may be a restriction of fuel somewhere. Just my 2 cents. Late. Welcome to the site!!.

Check the fuel pressure. Does it have spark now? Ignition modules can be bad even if they are new, so check into that. If it smells rich, pull the upper plenum off and make sure the fuel injector is not leaking.

Is your igniton module working correctly? Check for voltage

Where did it come from, If its from
advance auto take it back and get your money back.
If you have a ohm meter your can unhook the 2 wire pick-up pigtail to the module and ohm out the pickup and check for an open or short to ground. As a start, check all the basics no blown fuses and all first.
Maybe this will help.

no i use auto zonr but they dont carry the ignition module for horizantal plugs so i had to get it at oreillys i dont have what you are talking about so i guess i need to pull it and hitch a ride to the parts store ;) i just think it is something else. thought it might be fuses checked them all and they are fine. I have also had several people look under hood and only thin they can come up with is the old alarm sys that was on there if the brain is still hooked up it might be causeing the car not to start
