I just got A Jimmy and it runs really rich.
I first found gas in the oil so I change the oil.
I have changed the fuel filter computer o2 sensor and replace the intake gaskets and rebuilt the tbi unit and fuel presure reg. Reset timing th 10deg after pull the brown wire. Checked compression is about 120 cold and dry
it runs but blows black smoke and boggs bad on take off also getting a code 45 tps is good

Not saying this is the problem, but how do you know the tps is good?
I didn't know you could check those:hypnotize

You use a meter to check the TPS, its pretty simple.

Used a boush 02 and yes tested it with a dmm

One of those universal O2s that you had to cut and put the old connector one?
Give me a sec I'm trying to find my service manuals for my 87 and see what all GM says to deal with on the code 45

Code 45 Rich exhaust indication, sets if O2 sensor voltage remains above .7 volts for about one minute.
Fuel pressure
leaking injector
MAP sensor
TPS
Are the top things to check

I guess it must be the map it has a new fuel reg. And the o2 was a dirterct replacement pluged right in

Well bosch aint known for quality O2 sensors. As long as it aint one of those cheap splice ins it should still be ok. I'd start with the MAP personally and go from there.

I read that in my book. It said to back probe it. However, there isn't any room to put the voltmeter things in to back probe it?
I know this is a dumb question but I would like to check mine.

Can you test a map? Everything else is new and the problem was there before replacement

hehe, back probe...
anyways, I use small aligator clips to hold the test leads onto the TPS sensor pins. of course, I do it with the TPS off the truck.

It coulda but mine throws that every now and then. I would just clear it and if it pops back up and stays on then worry about it.

Update I replaced the map still have the same problem pukes black smoke could it be valves or timing chain ? Timing is set with light and right on the money also of I unplug one injector it runs great.
Please help I'm ready to sell this thing to a junk yard
so we are talking tbi (throttle body injection) right? i assume you have checked the fuel pressure? was it good?
i am also not a fan of the bosch o2 sensors. not sure if that is your problem or not, but ac delco is the way to go.

Yes tbi and fuel presure was good I also replace the fp regultor when I rebuilt the tbi
Are you still getting the code 45? Any other codes?

Just the 45 the check gauges light comes on once in a while and the oil gauge drops to 25 or 30
What temperature does it run? If it is running cold, it can cause a rich condition.
Have you checked the Coolant Temp Sensor? I had one go bad in my 3.1L Camaro but never throw a code.... To check it unplug the electrical connector from the coolant temperature sensor. With the engine off, check the coolant temperature sensor with a standard ohmmeter by setting it on ohm x 1000, connect the positive and negative probes to both terminals on the CTS.
Coolant Temp Sensor
deg F resistance (ohms)
210 185
160 450
100 1,800
70 3,400
40 7,500
20 13,500
