Ok guys. Tax time. I'm trying to overhaul the 'wearouts' on my 97 jimmy. Theres nothing wrong with the body, and it has a STRONG engine, but theres issues.

Theres a miss at idle, the fuel pump runs for quite some time after you shut it off (thinking bleedoff of injector), it needs new tires, and ball joints, bearings, etc. Anyways look at the list, and tell me if what I'm buying is AT LEAST acceptable. I'm not buying parts to get it ready to sell, i'm buying parts to get another 100,000 out of it ;) Its at 217,000 now.

FYI, the fuel pump is from an olds 88 with supercharger. The psi is the same as the one from the jimmy's 'pump assembly'. I've changed it once before, but it has a lower flow unit, so I may not end up getting this if fixing the injectors gets rid of the miss, and the low passing power.

FYI2, what exactly is SCPI Coversion to MFI? Its the unit i'm planning on buying. Is this what I need to upgrade / fix the whole poppet crappyness issue? I got 2wd hubs from advanced (NTP) and one side failed with in 9 months. Good thing they have a whole 1 year warranty...

Get Nationals or Timkens.

Oh! Just get rubber control arm bushings. They're cheaper and will last longer. The polys will bind and get chewed up.

I know nothing about the Ball Joints you mentioned but I personally would go with Power Performance ball joints on my trucks I planed on keeping for a long time. If it was something with a lot of miles that might not last that long I'd get Moog. If it were some POS I'd probably sell in a year I wouldn't care what I used as long as they were cheap.

Ok, i'm going to frighten you all....

I was looking on ebay for timken bearings, and came across this....

Its a lifetime warranty..?? That a BIG chunk of savings.

FYI, its a daily driver, and I drive like an old man.

Well I was going to recommend some MOOG ball joints, but if its a daily grampa truck... it shouldnt matter. Its better to spend the money else where.

Energy suspension makes some good ball-joints too.
But the MOOG's I have on right now have taken a major beating and are still holding strong... knock on wood

Timkens or Nationals or more than likely you will regret it.....

I bought from here when I did this swap. It comes brand new in AC Delco box and will save you a few bucks.

I will be getting MOOG ball joints, b/c I've bought the really cheap ones already. I didn't even get a year out of them and besides, they don't really fit right (the zerk fitting hole is wrong).

I've marked down the source for the AC delco fuel injector.

Ok thats what I thought. I was thinking that the ebay ones I found might be of higher grade since they offered that lifetime warranty. Others I've seen on there offer no warranty at all.

Take a look at Rock Auto. I've bought parts for less plus shipping then I could have bought them for at a store.
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php
Also, do a google search for "Rock Auto Promo Codes" and you will find a 10% off code.

Only part I know you should look for something different is the ball joints. look for McQuay Norris or get Power Performance stuff. TRW along with MOOG ain't what it used to be. All china junk now. At least McQuay Norris is inspected for quality in the US.
