Now this is our kind of Dodge Charger! On the heels of debuting the 340-horsepower, Hemi-powered Charger at the Detroit auto show, Dodge has already upped the ante, unveiling the Charger SRT8 in New York. Essentially Dodge’s version of the Chrysler 300C SRT8, the Charger SRT8 is propelled by a 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 that produces 425 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. All of that power is routed to the rear wheels via an A580 five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick, which offers fully automatic or manual shifting selection. A heavy-duty four-flange prop shaft sends torque from the transmission to an upgraded differential and axles. Dodge promises very impressive straight-line performance: 0 to 60 mph in around five seconds, the quarter-mile in the 13-second range, and a braking distance from 60 to 0 mph in approximately 110 feet, the latter achieved with Brembo binders and huge 20-inch wheels with Goodyear Supercar F1 tires. Seeing that the Charger SRT8 is a modern sport sedan, it must also offer impressive performance through the turns; thus, it comes with SRT-tuned dampers, specially tailored spring rates and suspension bushings, and large-diameter anti-roll bars. Plus, the ride height has been lowered by one-half inch compared to the standard Charger. Exterior modifications are of the obvious sort—an all-new front fascia with integrated ducts that help direct fresh air to cool the brakes; a hood scoop to funnel cool air into the engine compartment; dual 3.5-inch exhaust tips, and a decklid spoiler set on dual stanchions for high-speed stability and traction. Inside, the SRT theme carries over with faux-carbon-fiber trim, new gauges (including a 180-mph speedometer), and sport seats with suede inserts and red stitching.http://www.sicgmtrucks.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1085&stc=1

Don't think that hood scoop and Hemi engine makes it worthy of the Charger name. It's still ugly and still way too heavy!

4 door charger... big mistake. This is an embarrassment to the original old school chargers

Wow one of my older threads.I still like the car.It has balls and comfort and style to go with it.Look at this way what other manufacturer is making a full size V8 RWD car that isn't a police cruiser. So it has two more doors no biggy to me.Just means it's easier for 4 people to get in and out.The Challenger is gonna be a two door pony car to compete with the Mustang and GM's.......well nothing in the GM pony car line yet.

Still have to wait on the specs and pics but I'd take the new Challenger over the Charger. I liked the old Challenger more then the old Charger anyways.

They also have a Daytona R/T version that is WAY off from the 60's car. All it really is is a paint job.
