How does that spoiler mount? Do you notice any handling benefits?

From what? I'm no rocket scientist but I'm
pretty sure a spoiler doesn't take effect until like 150mph.

add more power by adding stickers to

Well to set you all straight you are thinking about a "wing". A spoiler will add down force at much lower speeds. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. Why do you think they run a spoiler in just about every class of racing, sprints run ones and dont hit 150mph!. WINGS are for planes and ricers.

And as for your comments about a spoiler and stickers adding hp I have a few choice words for you two but they wont show up on here.

Actually, a Spoiler is used to reduce "drag" on a car. It doesnt exert force on the car at all. You can google if ya like.
Which would explain why you see them on race cars. Sprint cars "wings" are huge to create drag, probably to help them go through turns sideways. No reason to get mad, but if you want I can take you can cuss me in PM. That is all.

you would never want drag. the wing is there for down force. and the unfortunate trade off is that you get drag with your down force. down force = more grip = able to go faster in the corners. like all engineering there are compromises to be made. normally you can gain enough benefit from the down force to make the drag worth it.

spoilers are different but they do affect air flow. they will affect it more the faster you go, but they will do something even at 1 mph. how much depends on a ton of stuff. idk if the people who designed it even tried to work out the aerodynamics, but even if it is just there for looks, it is fulfilling its purpose.

Thank you Zygoat. A spoiler will provide more down force than a wing at low speeds. Being a truck with little weight in the rear any additional down force you can get on the rear is an advantage for handling and performance. So no it doesn't add hp, nor do the stickers, but a functional spoiler will help put the hp you have to the ground with the added down force.

the sprint car example was bad. dude, just google "spoiler" it will explain it to you. A spoiler isnt designed to give you down force is all Im trying to say.
Operation
Spoilers function by disrupting or diffusing the airflow passing over and around a moving vehicle as it passes over the vehicle. This diffusion is accomplished by increasing amounts of turbulence flowing over the shape, "spoiling" the laminar flow (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Laminar_flow) and providing a cushion for the laminar (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Laminar) boundary layer.[citation needed (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] Often spoilers are added solely for appearance with no thought towards practical purpose.

And besides that, its a damn truck. Have you ever noticed how air flows in the back of a truck? It wouldnt even direct the air over the "spoiler" to help it do what its intended to do.
A wing in this context is an aerodynamic device (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Automotive_aerodynamics) intended to increase drag and/or generate down force on an automobile or provide aesthetics (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Aesthetics). The angle of attack (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Angle_of_attack) of the wing on some cars can be adjusted to increase downward force over the rear wheels, but it has the dual result of increasing drag. The precise physics of the effects of these aerodynamic forces is one of the most protected secrets in racing.[1] (http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/motor-racing/spies-in-the-pit-lane-covert-means-of-uncovering-a-cars-secrets-455953.html) The simulation and testing of wings is both computationally expensive and wind-tunnels are typically energy intensive to run.
Spoilers (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Spoiler_(automotive)) are often confused with wings, and the terms are frequently (yet incorrectly) used interchangeably. Performance cars will normally utilize a spoiler instead of a wing. Race cars such as formula racers (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Formula_racing) typically use a spoiler/wing combination called a rear wing assembly (http://www.s10planet.com/w/index.php?title=Rear_wing_assembly&action=edit&redlink=1). Although identical in form to the wing of an aircraft (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Wing), wings used in automotive applications are usually inverted (oriented upside-down) and sometimes reversed (oriented backwards) by comparison.

Trying to take things a step at a time. I'm doing this all remotely from Japan. My mom is taking care of the truck. I've never driven the truck. Just having her to take the truck from shop to shop getting things done. Here's some more updates!!
