if this is your first swap, get a different engine. youre looking at changing a lot of the electrical system and fuel system

the engine you should be looking for is a 350 tbi. youll need the pcm to go with it but for the most part, that swap will be plug and play

To be easy your best bet would to be track down a 350 TBI intake and injectors. Put that on the 350 out of the van. You can reuse the throttle body from the 4.3 you just need bigger injectors from a 350. You can also reuse the 4.3 ECM you just need a chip from a 5.7 with TBI.

A total 99 engine/ecm swap is gonna be a wiring nightmare. It can and has been done but there is nothing easy about it. Expect to own a GM wiring diagram for both a van and s10 by the time you are done planing that part of it alone.

if its your first time just plan on a carbed engine it makes everything easier. the wiring is so much simpler and you can use the van engine. just buy an intake to go to carb from summit racing .com or jegs and a carb use an hei distributor easy one wire hook up,and a one wire alternator makes life a lot easier. lol.

If done correctly the wiring for a TBI isn't any harder than a carb. All the wiring is already there for TBI (on 86-93 models). Its harder to cleanly remove what you don't need for a carb, unless you just do a hack job and cut stuff off even with the firewall.

Keep in mind that the 99 5.7 will have vortec heads so you need to make sure that the intake you get for it will bolt to vortec heads. It seems to me that the TBI intakes bolted to standard SBC heads. correct me if i'm wrong.

you can still use your engine and have the tbi. order a carb intake for the vortec heads then buy a carb to throttle body adapter. use all the tbi parts off your 4.3 and do like was stated earlier and upgrade injectors and the chip.

eliminating wiring dosent always have to be a hack job either. if done the right way and not just clipping off at the fire wall.

you are right the intake for the vortec has 8 bolt and tbi has 12 im going to try the tbi adapter.does the 93 4.3 harness will fit 99 5.7 or would a 99
s10 harness vortec 4.3 fit

well if you use the tbi adapter you could use your trottle body and sensors and your 93 wiring on that engine. the plus side is you get a really nice intake verses the ones they make for the tbi engines and the vortec heads are a pretty nice set up. you will have to use the distributor out of the vortec v-8 cause the v- 6 distributor wont work.
