What is the difference in PC's in relation to those 3 terms?

Would a Netbook like an Acer AOA 150-1987 be ok for something like just using it for a HPTuner program, light internet with aircard and other light duty?
Saw one for cheap and was thinking

laptop and notebooks are basically the same thing.

netbooks are lightweight, light use computers. they typically do NOT have a cd drive. they are meant for browsing the web and checking e mails. light duty stuff.

Its $180 with a case. I just saw it for over $200 and they are desperate and reduced it to $180. Ill keep an eye on it. Just a thought. Not sure if HPT is anything I want to mess with.
Im debating getting a W4M tune or wait til I can affors the Jammer. Or get a cheap PC and HPT to fk around with. Then theres lacking time on my part also to be able to go out and tune it right.
Ive still got brakes on the way to install, maybe some suspension stuff in the works, console and interior which should be done in the next few weeks, 1.6 rockers and kit just sitting awaiting install plus a whole list of other stuff :(

You know I've thought the same question so many times but never asked. If it weren't for having to buy a laptop/notebook I would have probably bought HPT or EFI live long ago.

I think it's work it even if I end up sucking at tuning. I'm sure some things like changing shift points, disabling some emissions junk, fixing the speedo when swapping tires sizes and gear and the sort would probably be pretty simple to figure out.

There also the fact that it's a professional scanner and would be great for diagnosing problems.

Also when you have the software you could always call up a tuner and they can email you a tune I believe.

Isnt it $250 for HPT with one or two credis?

Yeah, so I was thinking also. Even if I got a W4M tune or even the PCM that comes with the 'Jammer, I could still utilize it ike Scotty said to eliminate codes, RTA to keep an eye on stuff and change speedo for gear/tire swaps. Hell, on my Jet handheld the RTA and tire/gear speedo correction is all I use. Except speed limiter raised and tiny performance gain.
I could change that at will without changing their (Jammer or W4M) set tune right?

You can pick a laptop/netbook anywhere from $350 up new, but then tuning software will run you a few hundred more.
A few hundred???

You can change shift points (predetermined? IDK since mines manual), raise rev and speed limiters, adapt speedo for change in gear ratio and tire size, 3 tune settings and a couple other things. I sent it in for update a year and half ago. They added the RealTime Analizer which allows you to see what the sensors are reading like throttle position, o2, short and long term fuel trims, intake air temp, etc.
Other than setting the tire and gear swap change, I have it on mid-tune and sometimes watch the RTA.
03 was a different tuner part number than 02 and prior. 98-99 IIRC also was another part number. But works any 03 S or CK with 4.3 auto or manual.
If I get one of what I speak of I will be selling this I think. Wont be tomorrow but this year if all goes well

Yes, actually the HPTuner cable itself has the capability to log, you just need a computer to view the log.

The rectangular deal in the cable does the recording. Or, you can connect a laptop to go along on your ride to collect information. Two different options should you choose.
The best bet is to get a wideband and interface it with HPT to get the best results.
Which do you have DOJ? The standard MPVI or the MPVI Pro?

I plan on getting a wideband soon.

Pro.

OH ok. I guess with that box thingy you have it can record with out a lap top. Then you can put the info on you PC or something? The standard doesn't have that. So I need either that box thingy or a laptop. I guess since it's 289+ shipping getting a $300 note book instead would make as much since huh?
