Ok well my 2.2 has seen it's better day, it's still strong but it needs to be regasketed and I'd rather have a 4.3l in it anyways so I was wondering about swapping them out if I can use my same transmission and shocks and whatnot or do I need to upgrade them.

I intend on getting a 4.3L with mfi or whatever the h/o fuel injection is called. I have it in my Jimmy and that thing is quick. I already know I need motor mounts, radiator, wiring harness, and the whole motor and intake.

Any advice is great.
And also do I need to upgrade the rear end?

Ok well at this point I'm curious about two things, will the 5 speed from a 2.2 bolt to a 4.3 and how much of a pain will it be to pull the whole wiring out of my 95 Jimmy and put it in my Sonoma along with the 4.3?

The 2.2 tranny will not bolt up to the 4.3....

With all the trouble it takes to swap from a 2.2 to a 4.3 you might as well put a v8 in it.

Thanks, I'm probably going to drop the 4l60e that is in the Jimmy I had rebuilt into my truck for a while when I do the swap.

I'd love to have a v8 but I need something good on gas still.

The 4.3 really isn't that good on gas imo. Mine gets low to mid 20's on the highway but garbage around town. So in all seriousness, the good ole V8 may be your best choice for all the work...

A V8 will get the same and most cases more mpg than the 4.3...

x2 My 03 CC got about 19 on a good day. Depending on your motor choice with a v8 that kind of mileage is easily attainable, with a v8 and you will have gobs more power avaliable

Yes my '02 with 68000 on the ticker gets 18-19 around town and 20-21 on the highway. I have heard of people getting 23-25 mpg with the V8's. If I was going to go through all the trouble to do a swap, I would go with something better like others have already stated.

I had a 350 in a 88 with TBI that got around 20 but mods were done internally to the engine.

Yall really do have me reconsidering lol

That's gotta be a nightmare though trying to fit that much motor inside our little trucks.

I would say do the 4.3 from the same year but it's a 95. Off year with OBD1.5 or whatever they call it. To many problems to list.

V8 it. Many V8 swaps get better millage then the 4.3 or even the 2.2.

Do you have to make your own motor mounts and transmission crossmemer or is there anywhere you can order premade ones. I'd love to have a 350 in there if I can get good mileage like that.

I'd like to have a 4 speed manual with overdrive for a transmission if that helps with where to get a crossmember.
