I was looking at something cheap to spruce up the inside (mainly gauge cluster) saw this on ebay and didn't know if it was worth spending money on.

seems like you can't loose for the price. I like the night look but im not a fan of the white in the day.

Well the interior of my truck I painted white to match the exterior. I also have a blue fancey cd player. White and blue was the theme but I dunno, seems kind of cheap to be reliable (just dont want it to fail at night time or something).

Just be careful pulling the lens off of the cluster bezel face. It breaks very, very easy and then you will be out as much as $15-40 for a used one.

not sure about that gauge, but another option is an LED swap. either use white, blue, or whatever you like. then you can match the rest of your interior to match.

Just for reference i use a flat blade screwdriver or butter knife put it under the black round part of the needle and twist the blade so that it catches the part closest to the pin that the needle is pressed on.

I have the same ones and im happy with them.
I dont recommend EL gauges. I bought them and they didnt light up after a few months.

Typically those EL overlays eventually burn out (the EL part is the light blue center section). They also have a seperate color switch (if multi-colored EL) and a seperate dimmer to put somewhere.
IMO stick with a simple overlay that uses the stock backlighting to light it up.

Those look good in the picture, but do they actually light up that bright and even? Are they using the existing gauge's lighting?
Yup they use the exisiting stock lighting. The light shines through the overlays fine. I converted all the stock cluster bulbs to LED bulbs and it looks nice.

Oh, yeah, I think I've seen some pictures of your gauges before. Or am I imagining that?
I think you maybe seen the original EL gauges I had installed on a cluster w/tach. I now have a cluster w/o tach and just have the overlays.
Heres a pic. I can take a pic at night if anyone is interested.

It is night time, but no pictures yet...
Well I tried taking pics. The lighting turns out way too dull in the pics compared to in person. I changed the settings on my camera to "night time shots" and its still dull. Ill see what I can do.....

A friend of mine had something like this in an 02 cavalier. He never had any problems. He had some optional box with it that changed through 7 or 8 different colors.

right...................... ;)
Heres a pic. Its the best that I could do. (Looks alot better in person) I installed super bright white LED's in there, but im gonna change them to blue. They do have a slight blue to them though, but not enough to match the rest of the gauges I have in the truck.
I took pics of the rest of the other gauges. Still wanna make a few lighting changes to them.

They look good, but the ones on the site you posted look photoshopped compared to yours. Do you agree or do yours look that much better in person?
They dont look photoshopped to me. But they do look alot better in person, and I think the price for them is reasonable.
