At the above site, the guy explains how to check codes on a blazer.
Is this safe for one?
Same on S-10?
What years?

that will work on all OBD 1 s-10's the change over years was around 95 i belive

yes, it will work. just be ready to count the flashing. 95 uses some obd1, "1.5", and 2, depends on when in the year they were made.

so if I were to walk into napa, what would I ask for? Code fork? Its funny to me, because some company is selling this code reader and all it does is cause the flashes, but it looks like it should do more, costs around $40 too.

i got my code fork free from auto zone, before that i just used a paper clip that i unbent. for $40 you can get a cable for your truck and read what you engine is doing that is a cool tool

use a piece of wire with tinned ends.
