I wanted the ZQ8 insets to be darker than I had done them before. Instead of fartin around with a couple shades darker, I went with black.
Its a Universal Metallic Black with Clear added this time. I also cleaned the inside of the rim so its shiny in there also. I may want to paint the inside of the rim flat black also.
What you think?

Front wheel is polished and DupliColor Med Gunmetal Wheel Cote with no clear.

Not bad but I liked the gray better, I absolutely cannot stand a wheel to have black on it. To me it makes the wheel look dirty all the time.

That paint isnt sticking very well. I got to work early and started on the RF wheel. Some peeled back like dead sunburnt skin when I removed the tape. I was worried this type of Acrylic Laquer would not stick too well.
I got some wheel specific paint this time. Already stripped the RF wheel totally. Gonna pull the rear this evening time permitting and strip it also.
Hope I can get them all stripped down to the aluminum like I did before by Sat. Monday I will try to get them all painted Black

Well as I stated, the paint I had just wont stick right.
So in this pic you can see the rear better with the painted black and the front is stripped to bare aluminum.

After this pic, the rear got stripped down. So my rights are plain and lefts are the dark gray as before.
I got some actual wheelpaint black. See how that does maybe on Monday. Imma strip the lefts when I get time.

Thought about it. Being a dark blue not bad idea. But that paint doesnt seem to stick well. Maybe If I went all out and got some good paint for the paintgun.
Pics later. Got both pass side done

Can said FlatBlack. But it sure does have a semi gloss or satin sheen to it. I like it so far.
Now to do the lefts...im tired of doing this already :(

That is honestly the first wheel with any amount of black that I like. Much better than I thought originally.

Thanks :)
Minnis, you shouldve seen it with the tape still on after painting it. It was a fully blacked out ZQ8..hehe. Then I took the edge tape off first and it looked like a fuly black ZQ8 with just polished rim lip.
Pics dont do it justice IMO. Maybe Monday if they are all done I get better pics after I clean the truck up. She's a dirty pig right now

Like I've said twice in this thread already, I can't stand black on a wheel but idk why I like those, maybe where there's more polished surface and the black doesn't exactly jump out at you.
I like, looks good, I almost did this to my ZQ8's, If and when I get another set, I may do this.

I wasn't so sure at first, but it does look good.
It makes me think that a similar scheme would like good on my wheels, but I don't have the patience or balls that you do for this kind of thing.

:) Thx
black insets made a huge diff on my old polished zq8s. Really helps too cause the sanding and polishing is a pita, but worth the results

I like it too, it makes the spokes of the wheel stand out visually. also looks like about the correct color for my 2nd gen grilles.
did that come in a can? I need some of that. :)

I used DupliColor wheel paint last time. This time all they had was Rustoleum brand wheel paint in flat black. Turned out more satin tho.
