My understanding it it will roll the tires as it has decent bottom end, but it is not gonna win many races. "Might beat other 4 bangers. Not a ton of difference in the 2.8 and the 2.5 power wise probably.

yea man!!! that's exactly i had.....the only reason i dont have it anymore is because an idiot who was driving a firetruck when he wasn't licensed to be driving it totalled my truck. he rearended me going around 30mph when i was at a stop light in heavy traffic.....it crinkled the DS framerail over the left rear wheel. i kept driving the truck sideways down the road until we settled in court because he had no insurance. he offered me $500 at the scene. but my lawyer got me plenty more :)

anyway, i loved the truck and it had plenty of power. it had good power through all the gears. while driving back and forth to our farm in TN, i got around 30-31mpg. here in town, i averaged 23-24. man, if i could get another one, i would. oh, if it doesn't have bucket seats, you should get them.....in case somebody hits you. mine had a bench seat, and when that guy hit me, i broke out the back window with my head. :ouch_125:

Neo would strongly disagree. But ya, 2.5's are dogs man. The 5 speed might get you a little better mileage though.

4.3 with CPI = stout, "when it's running right". By the way, since I lashed the valves it idles quiet enough to where you think maybe it's killed sometimes...

Not at stop lights mind you, but when you let off the gas to decelerate.

Mine was running rough as hell, I was even convinced my spider might be leaking. Pulled the tuning valve and no leaks. Changed the fuel filter and she runs like a champ! Doesnt matter any more, I should have kept the 2.5 since I bagged it. I just cruise along like grandpa, havnt even smoked the new 20's.

2.5 is ok for what it is but don't expect to win any races. I've used a 5 speed reg cab to pull a small boat before with no problems.

As for the 60 degree, I have a bored and stroked on here in a 4x4 that I'll line up against any 4.3 in a 4x4. For a few months longer anyways, I think I've found me some axles so its going in my truck in exchange for a 5.7.

Had a '85 w/2.5L, auto-trans. Increased the after-cat .25" & used a Flowmaster, installed the "true" Splitfire plugs (Forked side-electrode) w/good spiral-core wires, a replacement K&N & fabbed a FAI-system. Result: 25mpg while cruising 75-80mph going down to Bowling Green, running 92-octane.

the 2.5 "iron duke" is a good engine and gets pretty good gas mileage. Its no power house, but it did the job for me when I had one. I was pretty rough on it too, and it never let me down. I would deff buy another if givin the chance.

just save the money... keep one of the trailers your were trying to sell, pull it behind your blazer when need be as it will be 4 wd and you can go where ever.

Buy a lift kit with money saved and some shocks, or a transmission, or some tires, or just save it at 20 yrs old. Wait the time you waited to save this ammount to spend, then add it to the saved ammount and you now have double....

Just my 2 cents
