Just wondering how you guys cut your brackets off. Did you cut around the weld or did you just cut it off even with the frame. Im bottoming out on little cracks on the highway. Whats the best tool to use (other than plasma)

i haven't done it personally but normally they cut the weld than grind what ever is left and if you through alittle paint on it you would never tell it was even there. i would use a cut off wheel its the easiest way to get in there and will proubly give you the cleanest cut.

i used a cut off wheel on my grinder, and cut around the welds and then smoked the bracket with a hammer to get it out of there. you could use a sawzall too. i dont think it would make any difference if you just cut it off even with the frame, but if you cut the welds, you can dress up the area with a grinder when your done, paint it and you will never know the bracket was there

I've done it on 2 of my trucks with my angle grinder, a hammer, and a cold chisel. I don't have a sawzall. Just take your time and you'll have no problems.

If you do eat into your frame a little, you can always stitch it up with the welder
i dug into mine a tiny bit and i just left it, didnt make any difference

I did both of my S-10s just like LoRyder and they both turned out just fine. Just take your time with it.

OK I finally got them cut off. I noticed that the big brake line with the black foam stuff on it the runs over the top of the diff had been rubbing the square black box (evap canister?) a little with the bump stops on. Is this going to mess the line up now that there is nothing to keep it from hitting it harder?

I went back and bent the little tab. It still rubs but not as much. I did bottom out today, HARD. The ubolt hit the frame.

get a set of nice drop shocks (if you dont have them yet) and put a pancake bump stop on there and you'll be fine.
