Cracked Windshield Woes

So I went to this huge party the other night down this gravel road and I was following some car out there and I ended up getting a cracked windshield from a rock that got thrown up. My question is... Is it expensive to get the windshield replaced with a new one or can I like go find one off a wrecked truck and put it in? Is that hard to do? Idk ive never had to deal with this problem so Im just wondering what to do cuz Im one of those people that cant stand when a vehicle has body damage or whatever that totally takes away from the appearance of the ride itself. Anyways if anyone knows anything about this lil problem of mine please hit me up.

For the slight amount saved versus trying to do it yourself and maybe cracking it or having it leak, GET R DONE!
Cant say for sure how much since prices change like no tommorrow these days, but 2 years ago I had one put in the Old Ladies Lumina for just over $200 installed.

if you have insurance i think its fire and theft they will cover windshields. windshields are a safety item so if you just call your insurance they will tell you if you could get it done. my insurance does up to 3 windshields a year. its free so find out

Mine cracked about a quarter inch above the wiper cowl and now is about a foot long right in front of my face so its beginning to be a safety hazard I guess. If I turn it into my insurance will my insurance go up? I cant afford any more then I have to right now so I hope its free. If its not Ill just tough it out and see what happens. I kinda wish it woulda hit my paint really bad cuz then it woulda got messed up and Id have an excuse to tear that paint off and put a new coat on. But alass it is on my windshiled so I guess I need to get it fixed. If anyone knows anything lemme know.

you came out to your truck and found some little asshole had vandalised your truck by throwing a rock through your windshield? thats too bad to hear! :)

you could call to find out if it will go up. my insurance will let me do 3 claims a year before my insurance goes up. but you also have to remember that a cracked windshield (cracked in the wiper path) will not pass inspection.

Mine got cracked twice by rocks and once because I slapped a mosquito to hard

Like stated earlier. Check with your insurance. In Ky. they are replaced at no charge.

No mine was a rock thrown by a tire so thats why Im not that pissed. I Already passed inspections and my truck is about 3 months old so I still got a while till my next inspection.... like 2 years or so. So Im just weighing my options to see what I can and shold do.

since my trucks birth in 1998 i've never had a crack or nick. i've seen people driving around here in TX with some pretty severe ones...ones that pretty much prohibit sight...dunno how they do it...

my insurance company covered mine. i just told them that a rock fell off a truck and hit my windshield and cracked it. it only cost me $50 for the deductable. and they replaced it right there in my driveway.

but when i called around to get a price for a windshield for my firstgen it was anywhere from $120 - $160 depending on certain warranties and special glass and all that.

if i were you i'd just call the ins company
