:D , finally they went in yesterday, it took the better part of sat. night, and sunday but they are in and it was by far and away worth it!!
the throttle response is exceptional now, it idles way smoother, the exhaust is louder though not much.... :)
but reving now it just fun, my truck seems happy!!
the ceramic coating was well worth it, the whole engine bay is way cooler, it is by no means scientific but it always was hot under the hood, enough so that the intake bonnet was hot.... but now, everything is just warm!
for anyone looking to do this, like said before, go through the fenders, it will cut the swearing in half, i think i only swore putting the steering shaft back in and braking the nut off the EGR fitting!!

Heh well I cant say I got that much from my headers, but I know it helped the top end. Where it is most when road racing :D
After my install the difference in exhaust tone was worth it to me.

yea i agree with the sound....it helped, it doesn't force downshifts as much now, it just has better power all around, but i'll be another person who stands behing ceramic coatings... they are worth it

hmmmm, if I take mine off to get coated, I was thinking Jet-Hot. Dunno though, any opinions? I shift mine at 5500-5600 off nitrous and around 5800 on the bottle. I'm thinking ANY coating is gonna help but it's like "which one?".

u know i don't know enough about the stuff to say anything about that. i thought i would buy the cheapest set of headers i could find...still quality just not ceramic coated...and then have them coated by jet hot, and i think jet hot coats them with a metallic ceramic coating...so i reckon you could coat a ceramic set of headers?? haha...double the protection. i only found out about the stuff looking at that GNX s10 when i saw blue headers and thought WTF...

so you finally got them in...cool...what kind were they?
I believe it's also important to get them coated on the inside and outside. But like the others, I don't know who/what are the best to have the coating put on. I've got a set of JBA ceramics that I plan on putting on at the same time as the coming supercharger myself.

yeah they offer that option...they thoroughly clean them inside and out...blast them with aluminum oxide, and coat them inside and out...i think external coating only saves you 30 bucks...so its worth the extra to go all out...

Yeah, my speed shop said they blast 'em inside and out and the jet hot coats both. Also told me to install them and run them first and then put the jet-hot on.
Supposed to speed up the exhaust pulling more air in. Anything to help the Vortec head, ya' know?
Jet hot has been around a long time. I've heard some say after a while Jet Hot's
coating will peal, but I've never seen it so I don't know if true or not. I had mine
done at Rewarder Headers who build inboard headers for fresh and salt water boats
and the coating has lasted a long time. I do know one of the very best coaters
is on the east coast, and if I had a built engine, they'd be doing mine. Might want
to ck em out. The do some of the very best coating period..

Congrats on the header install. You described the benefits just like I did when I posted my install. IMPORTANT>>>>>>> My headers have been on for about 2 or 3 months now and yesterday on my way to work smoke started pouring out of my hood. I pulled over and checked it out and couldn't find anything smoking. I got back in it and started it up and no smoke. So I went to leave the side of the road and smoke again. Noticed that it only did it when I hit the brakes. One of the brake lines (the one that feeds the rear) was rubbing on the header tube that the steering shaft goes thru. I thought I pulled it far enough away from the header tube when I did the install but I guess not. I had to replace that section of brake line tube. What a pain in the ass. Check this if you have headers and remember this if you plan on putting them in.
