Original Truck runs and drives. Needs some body work to be restored. It is a 3/4 ton, long wheel base truck with a 305 big block V-6 and a manual 4 speed tranny. Don't really want to sell, but need some cash.

LOL... In his defense those manifolds do look like 6 cylinder manifolds. And if that were a 6 that'd be a BIG 6.

Irony: Just read the latest issue of Hot Rod & someone wrote in about it. Having an old commercial-truck service manual from the '60s (Dad had a '48 Dodge bus that was converted for camping!) it's a real-deal. It was a 60* V-embankment job that came in even larger displacements (351ci was one of them) and was the basis of a 702ci V-12 (It used two pairs of heads!) that GM offered in their 6100-series semi-tractors thru the mid-'60s. An odd piece the 12 was. The book said red-line was lower than your average mech-injected diesel. Way lower!

Given the overall displacement of this 6, and what I've said many times about displacement (It's not what you displace, but how you displace it) I'd say this thing must have strong low-end torque & get pretty-good mileage for it's size. Back it with a Tremec 6-spd (There's a company that can help you do that) and go pull a house down the highway!

Straight from Wiki. Never new that.

"The 305-cubic-inch (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Cubic_inch#Engine_displacement) (5.0 L) 305 had a 4.25 in (108 mm) bore and 3.58 in stroke (90.9 mm). The 305 V6 was the standard pickup truck (http://www.s10planet.com/wiki/Pickup_truck) engine for GMC from 1960 to 1966, and was one of the first V6 engines produced by an American company."

http://www.6066gmcguy.org/TwinSix.htm

The 305 weighed between 738 and 840 lbs and made between 150 and 175 hp and 260 to 280 ft-lbs.

The 702 weighed 1485lbs and made 275hp and 250 ft-lbs w/ a 2400 rpm redline.

My uncle had an old tow truck that body style with a 305 V6 in it. Nobody ever believes him when he tells people about it lol.

^These guys supply "hot-parts" for the Twin-Six, including DIS conversions! Imagine getting hold of a couple pairs of the "Magnum" heads (Yes, I read the article found in the above link) along with some custom forged slugs. Now imagine the cam-grinder having a heart-attack when you show him what you want reground (Heh-heh-heh).

There was a guy here in town that had a '67 with the 305 v6. It had dual exhaust on it. Quite the unique exhaust note. :D

I has a 305 v6 sitting in the weeds. We swapped it out for a 250 I6 in our old 62 pickup before it died a slow body rotting death. Its not uncommon to hear then called a big block v6.

Growing up my grandpa was the head mechanic of the county road dept (back when all big machinery was still gas powered), dad is the only mechanic at a lumber yard, one uncle was a gm service manger (started out mechanic), another uncle has worked at car dealers his whole life as a mechanic. I grew up a grease monkey. I've worked mainly maintenance jobs every since I was legal to work. Around here they run equipment until it catches on fire and burn up, even then some places rebuild it. We just got done bringing a building up to electrical code that the main service panel was manufacturer dated to sept 3rd 1947. First time I've ever seen electrical panels exact dated like that the electrician installing it didn't do.

I wonder if there is any kind of brochure Mike doesn't own, lol.

3 phase with a high leg, pretty common in older commercial and industrial areas around here. All old GE switch gear, the kind you had to pump up before it would throw.
