View Full Version : Shocks
Are the belltech nitro shocks any good? There half the price of the edelbrocks. Suspension will be lowered 2" in front with spindle and 3" in the rear with blocks.
i've heard there good but stiff. someone wrote it in another post all the good ones and which ones are stiff and wcich are soft. but i have no clue who or what post sorry

I have heard good things about them, but have no actual experience with them myself -- so I'm no judge in this matter. However, I DO have experience with the Edelbrocks, and I like them very much. . . In fact, I am going to be putting a set on my wife's Blazer soon.
But, I can only go on what I've heard about the Belltech shocks -- and I have heard nothing bad about them, only good. Aside from that, Belltech makes good products overall, so their shocks should also be good. . . If that makes any sense.
it comes down to this..you get what you pay for.
do i thinck they'er good shocks? NO, cause they have to much rebound, but I also have qa1 stocker stars on my truck and that would be like compairing a carvette to a chevette.

I have tried all brand of shocks on my 2/ 4 dropped 1994 and the best are the Edelbrock IAS shocks . Get them and you will be happy .

Nope no leaks, I can just compress them slowly w/ my hands, I just thought that was a bad thing.

I really really like my Belltech Nitro shocks! They are stiff, but it helps with the bottoming out proplem that i have. My old Z28 had some sort of edelbrock shocks on it, and from what i have done with my truck as far as suspension goes...the truck handles alot better than the car, but it is stiff! It sure wakes up your kidneys when you accidentily hit a man-hole cover!

I have gabriels in the rear that are super stiff. I love them and they where cheap, the only complaint I have is somehow I managed to break the cover thingy for the piston and it rattles a little. My front shocks are the factory stock ones from 17yrs ago so I really really need to get new ones up there. They leak bad and I might as well not even have shock up front.

if you have gas shocks than it will be pretty hard to push down but you can still do it and they will come back out automatically. if you just have regular cheapo shocks than you should only be able to push them in slowely and pull them out slowely. if there blown they'll go in and out pretty easily which is bad or if you cant move them at all thats bad too.

What does everyone think of toxic shocks?? I've heard good things about them, but I don't know anything about the ride quality.

Toxic shocks are very stiff, so if you want handling there a good shock. However Toxic has a bad rep. for the seals blowning.

Ya toxic shocks are stiff as hell. They take care of alot of body roll, but they are stiff!!! OUCH, your ass will need a couple days rest if you decide to go for a road trip, hahaha

I have toxic shocks all the way around. They are a little stiff; I guess. They are good for minimal clearence suspension. I do know they are better than the stock shocks. They react good to changing road conditions. They handle rough RR tracks and roads under construction pretty good compared to the stock shocks. I think I have had them for about 8 months or so, maybe more, can't remember, and haven't had any problems.
I don't know if this is with all shocks but mine didn't come with dog bone mounting piece in them. WD40, a vice ,and a big enough socket to fit over it will allow them to go on easily.
