I want to just change the oil in my truck with a 4l60 (700R4) because I want to add some Sea Foam Trans Tune. I changed the filter and oil not too long ago but never got the oil out of the Torque Converter. So what is the easiest way to change all the oil? How much should I buy? Thanks.

unless you go to a shop and get it flushed you can not get all the oil out of the tranny. You are only going to get like 4 quarts out on a change while there are 12 quarts totla in the tranny

I use an 11/32" drill bit with a piece of hose clamped to it. I slide the hose up so only 1/8" can penetrate. I then drill between 2 fin welds (the bumps around the circumference of the converter) and tap with a 1/8 NPT tap. Kinda messy job but with all the fluid flowing out you don't have to worry about a random shaving.

Insert an allen headed 1/8" NPT plug and you now have a converter you can drain.

Another do it yourself way is to remove the out-flow transmission cooling line and install a clear hose from it to a bucket. Get about 14 to 15 quarts of transmission fluid and a good funnel. With a friend have him start it up and you start dumping fluid down the funnel, when the fluid changes color (to the new) you’re done. It’s messy also, but if your buddy goes through the gears while your exchanging fluid its affective.

Sounds like a good use for a 5 gallon bucket, 'eh Jake?

I thought just us rednecks here in KY flushed out the old tranny fluid like that. You will be suprised how much 100% fresh fluid will help a tranny.
