I knew from day 1 buying this truck, the first thing i was doing was getting the (minor) dents pulled out, getting the rust repaired, and just getting an overall paint job.

How much did YOU pay for paint, or how much did they quote you? What kind of paintjob did you get? Factory restore, completely new, 2-tone...etc.

I would like to know so that i can be saving my money to get the job done right....not maaco shiza.

Paint is, for lack of any better way of putting it, expensive. I do my own paint, and it's still expensive.
Really, if you feel gutsy, i suggest you spray it yourself. Pay a professional to do your major bodywork and rust repair if you're not feeling up to the task, then start in with a DA sander. Heck, I'll walk you through the steps on a nightly basis if need be. then get yourself a 60 dollar paint gun, mix everything properly, put on your mask, and nervously pull that trigger for the first time. Long, even strokes, within a few minutes it'll feel natural. 2 coats of primer, 2-3 coats of color, 2 coats of clear is my recipe. It's hard work, but you'll save thousands and have a newfound respect for yourself and for the truck. There is nothing as rewarding as after the paint is dry, standing back, smiling, and saying "I did that!"

Don't you have to have an air-compressor for the paint gun? And how much does the primer, paint, and clearcoat cost? Then the wetsanding...i have no clue what wetsanding is.

Its sanding with wet-dry sandpaper. You keep the surface wet and sometimes use saop/water solution

You do need a compressor, and primer paint and clear can all vary depending on color and grade of products. My last paint job cost my about 500 bucks with all the paint primer sandpaper buffing compound, etc.... still thousands less than a shop to do it. and I use high end products. I once painted my dad's truck for 100 bucks and the cost of beer.

you can find compressors cheap at pawnshops and some retail outlets, IMO don't skimp on the paint gun.

what i mean "retail" was Harbor freight. Google paint suppliers or just a place to look go to PPG's website and see if they got a dealer locator there.
What ever you decide for your air compressor get some form of air dryer.

U need a good air filter and water trap. A big compressor helps also since you will have a steady pressure

You compressors, paint and primer all colors, depending on need and a clear class of the product may vary. My last paint job sandpaper primer paint, buffing compounds, all due to cost me about $ 470.
