First of all i do have the air injection on the headers, dont know if that is a part of it, but i was wondering how i tell if i have this egr system that i hear everyone remove??? and i saw in the forum store they have a egr block off plate for like 6 bucks! would that hurt anything to block it off or what???? suggestions? sarcastic imput?
It lowers combustion temperatures under certain part throttle conditions, helping to lower NOX emisions. It also alows the computer to advance the timing a little bit. If you remove it you will need to have it tuned out. I have eliminated my egr.
The egr port is on the back of the drivers side header right near the collector. It is a threaded nipple. On the front of your intake maifold right behind the a/c compressor is the where the pipe ends. There is a large black cylindrical egr valve with a 5ish wire connector right on the front of the manifold next to the thermostat housing(it is on the drivers side). The air fittings i think are on both headers if you have them, and they are a flat flanges with threaded holes. They are toward the front.
Not sure what your air injection question is, that shouldn't change any thing if you remove it. I have headers for an air injected truck, but will just be blocking the ports off because i don't have air injection.
