View Full Version : Front Clip removal
Ok, everyone knows im new to the forum so I dont know where to post ****. I am going to pull the front clip off of my dime this summer to make the engine bay more accessable for the swap. Anyone have any adivce to make this go over fairly headache free? Thanks.
never done it so my best advice to make it headache free would be to have some one else do it.
the right tools always help. and alittle patience wouldn't hurt either. sorry thats all i got for ya

damn rookie beyotch!
I want to have the front end with nothgin on it so i can power wash the frame rails
2 or 3 bolts each fender at the cab(depending if it's ever been pulled) 2 you need an exstension and you have to open the door and one under the rocker. 1 bolt on each the fender well and 2 for the core supports. your headlamp wireing gets in the way(the easy way is to cut it and spice it back).
of couse you condensor and radiator need to come out and pull the front wheels off(unless you have the original 14's then you can just jack up the front
opps forgot the cowl vent.
pull that off and you'll find 1 more bolt on each fender.

It is not very hard to pull the front clip off at all. Also rember there are bolts in the wheel well the need to be taken off and the core support mounts. When i have removed a entire front clip i kept as much bolted togeter as i could this made it alot eaiser. I have taken the entire front clip off in one piece that saved me from having to undo many bolts. This makes it so much easier to work on the engine.

I had mine off last summer. Start with the bumper and grille. Then just start taking off the other parts. It's really not that hard. As you work your way thru you'll see what needs to be removed. Keep the parts and the bolts organized for when you reinstall. There's a lot of different bolts and screws.
