I have a 99 sonoma with the zq8 suspension and i want to lower it but dont know how low to go. This truck is my daily driver and i drive 80 miles a day roundtrip to work. Any help would be awesome. I want it to sit about as low as a camaro. So i dont have any clearance problems.
do like a 4/5. will look really good and still drivable. something like a 3/4 will get you down pretty low and still look pretty good especially since you have the zq8 which is already lowered 2 inches from a regular one. so anywhere around there will be good. guess it depends on what you want for a comfort/look ratio. down lower less comfort better look. up high more comfort,ok looks.

Im going to give you perscription: Your going to want to get some 2" drop spindles, and some 3" lowering blocks (angled blocks if you are an ext. cab) i recomend Belltech! you will not need new shocks with these components
go check out www.staticmadness.com (http://www.staticmadness.com) . Ben has all sorts of drop pics, and if you click on ZQ8+2/3, you'll see exactly how your truck will sit.
spindles and blocks will give you the best bang for you buck. your truck is already lowered 1.5" from the factory using coil springs and leaf springs...so with an idditional 2/3, you will have a total of 3.5/4.5 drop compared to a stock s10 LS. it looks great, and it is very drivable.
My truck is also my daily driver, and its dropped 5/6...i dont recomend it

yes a 5/6 is low and only for those who like to be really low. looks really good but only for the faint of heart.
and freeky you are listening to 2 people who like to be really low (even though i'm not at the moment)so becarefull what you ask for. even though both of us realize that not everyone likes to be slamed. we can give good advice just be aware of what you want.

these guys gave great advice. i agree with them completely. go with a 2/3 using spindles and blocks and if you are running a 17 or 18 inch wheel get some low pro tires. this is a good drop to start off at. plus if you decide to bag your truck later on down the road youll already have your drop spindles and then you can just sell the blocks to a friend.

i was looking at the www.staticmadness.com (http://www.staticmadness.com/) web site and really like the stance of a 5/6 drop but at my local shop the company they offers only sell 2/2, 2/3, 3/3, 4/4, 5/5 drop they dont have the 4/5, 4/6, 5/6, drops but they told me that if i had the company name theyd find it for me anyone no where these drop come from ?
and what size wheel would you suggest me 15 or 16 or... was thinking of the now c-6 wheels but id need those spacers showed somewhere else in the forum but how big a spacer can you use and not sure if theyd fit ? im open to suggestion and was maybe thinking during the winter to modify the frame ( not sure how to say it in english but get the frame narrower ) would also need help fo this

Belltech sells Spindles, Coils, Leafs, and Lowering blocks for our trucks....you do not need to buy the kit that that shop has told you about. you can buy all the parts seperate
For my truck, i bought everything seprate.....2" spindles, 3" coils, 3" leafs, and 3" blocks
www.belltechcorp.com (http://www.belltechcorp.com) has the application chart so you can check that out and get the part numbers for a 5/6
if i remember part numbers correctly for a 5/6:
Spindles: 2100
Coils: 4225 <-------that part number is for 4cyl coils, i cheated and used them
Leafs: 5954
Blocks: 6202 <---------these are angled blocks, ~Jo~ you will only need strait blocks
and i cant remember shocks...but you will need new ones
