I didnt know where to post this at so I posted it here so here goes. Ok when I bought my truck I guess the guy before me bought a train horn setup for the truck and it looks like he installed it and everything but I have no idea if it is setup right at all or how it works and there are no instruction that he left me so I was wondering if anyone knows how these are setup or where I can get some sort of instructions on how to hook them up. Any ideas?

how many horns? try www.hornblasters.com (http://www.hornblasters.com). there should be a single air line running to a manifold that splits it off into how ever many horns there are. the valve is placed inbetween the manifold and the air tank. do you have a switch hooked up for the valve?

Only reason I even wanna hook it up is because its already put on my truck. By who idk. But its free and I might as well get some use ut of it. Maybe a couple times in town or after school or something along those lines.
As far as the whole setup goes I havent really looked at it a whole lot. Its got 3 horns and a line running off somewhere into the truck I just cant tell cuz I havent looked hard enough yet.
What does it plug into (the airline that is)?

train horns are great. My uncle had one in his one ton chevy and it was so loud he scared many people with it.

We used a portable air tank on our tow truck. Then took an auto. air compressor (think cadillac, lincoln air ride) and teed it in with an on off switch. Ran the airline through the cab with a pull rope hooked to the spring-loaded valve.

When the horn started sounding a little weak, turn the compressor on. No worries of blowing the air tank as those compressors don't top 120 psi.

We'd get scolded a little for using it at times (more fun than useful ;)) but damn, that thing was LOUD!!!

well train horns run off compresed air so I would assume the line goes to a compressor, but there are variables. aperently he had the truck on bags or was planning to in the near future. he may have be running off a co2 tank though. A co2 tank would be the quick fix.

it should run to a valve first, but there is only one way to find out...

Ok cool. I hope it doesnt need an air compressor. Id rather it just run off of CO2 and be done with it but I might relocate it or re-set it all up when I get around to it. I so want to get it going though. Man I could have some real fun with this.
My windshield is cracked so is this thing gunna make it crack worse or will it not affect it at all.

i'd assume it COULD make it worse, not that likely though unless the DB vibrate through the truck

possible yes, likely no. and i put this in another post (might have even been yours) insurance should pay for a cracked windshield. you do not need full coverage. windshield is a safty item. most people dont know this but insurance will pay for alot of thing like lighting (blinkers, headlights, all the important ones) you do not need full coverage for these but really its not worth doing because its just a hell of alot easier to buy them your self. but things like windshields are expensive so give them a call and they should tell you to go get it done and you just give the glass place you insurance info and your all set.

where is the horns located? if they are under the truck, you might want to consider putting dynomat between the horns and the bottom of the truck (I'm not sure how effective it will be, but it's worth a shot) if it's under the hood, try using the dynomat hood liner that stylin' concepts sells.

I looked at it again and it has a couple wires running to a relay then one of the wires runs to the underhood fuse box and another is spliced into the regular horn im guessin. Idk how Im gunna get it to start working except for maybe take it off and reinstall it. My dad wants to take it off and hook it up to a battery and test it to see if it even works so were not just wastin our time tryin to get it to work.

Mine is bolted to the bottom of the core support. And Ive been meening to check out that windshiled thing with the insurance company. I cant stand my **** to look all broke so I gotta get this fixed soon cuz it really bothers me alot and I never thought of how useful that would be to have those train horns when someone drives really slow . They can most certainly pay for it if they wanna drive like they are old. My train horn set is only three horns so I dont know how powerful they are but I will most certainly try and find out and if they still do then they will come in very handy.

it cant hurt to hook it off outside the truck. battery and an air compressor should work. i dont see why not!

nah i only blow them at people who cut me off LOL. i try not to drag to often.

Yeah the air compressor deally was a little bit harder to find but I found it. Everything seems to be in order but its just not working yet.

do you have power and ground going to it? i know its obvious, but its all i can think of, minus the air line. make sure you have 12v going in!

when was the last time you had a full tune up? if its been a while, might as well go all out and do it right!

Just use the stock replacement delco resistor plugs. They're really good plugs and cheap. the $4 platinums and multi electrode plugs don't do good in gms for some reason.
NKG also makes good plugs that work really good with GMs.

really. I was thinking about getting a tune up anyways especially since I won that hypertech power programmer. I want my truck running to optimum performance when I get that programmer. How much do tune ups usually run? I need one anyways but if its alot of money then Im a lil SOL for right now.
