I'm deciding on whether to keep the whatever kind of posi gm put in it or getting an aburn! Def gonna keep the blazer discs, no more ls1's for me

Hmm that means I'll have a 3.73, Zexel, LS1 Disc 7.5 for sale  :angel_125

What did you get it out of. I was told I should have a 8.5 but called the dealer one day and gave them the vin and they told all about my rearend. 7 5/8, the length of the axles and the spline countand that it was posi.

And those look just like the calipers I have on my blazer. Factory 4 wheel disc brakes.

Now that I look it more and more it looks just like mine. But the dealer told me I have 7 5/8 gear. WTF!!!!!

Check out the center section Leadfoot thats the big diff the one in our trucks is a lile more squared where that one is flat out round. I've been looking for an 8.5" since January it ain't easy this guy is lucky to have found it that was exspensive as hell though $950

Thanks for the clarification firefighter. I guess I do have a wimpy little 7 5/8 rear end. I hope it lasts and hold up to the wynjammer when i get it. What do those come out of, the 4X4 blazers?

Ok so I checked out the ebay page. I guess it came out of a s10 xtreme. So why don't all the xtremes have this rearend or is it a pick-up truck thing for payload capacity reasons?

I belive the gm 8.5 truck rears had an alburn unit in them from GM. I'll have to look it up though.

Leadfoot from best I can figure there is no rhyme or reason to when they used the damn things except the ZR2 "wide stance" would allways get them but they are about 8" too wide the 4.3L with the 5 speed would also guarantee an 8.5" and would be the right width but once again rare. Now they could also br in a regular 4X4 buut they would 4" too wide. Now they can be in other models but it's hit or miss to locate them. And then to top it all off most of the salvage yards have absolutely no damn idea what the hell they have or need. I have a guy in Clearwater that is looking for one for me and he KNOWS what the hell he is doing (he's got a truck JUST like ours but with an LS1) btw his 7 5/8 is holding fine to the LS1 but then again he's older and more civilized than me for sure and prolly you too ;)

Yes sofar that guys sold 5 of them over the past 2months for 900+ !!!! The last two got bought right out under my nose, so as soon as I saw this one "buy it now"

You can till if the tabs on the bottom are square(8.5) or have a round notch in them.

Everybody told me that I should have had an 8.5 to but GM is so retarded!!! Mines a 4.3L 5spd too

See there goes that idea it's supposed to be the std set up for your truck

Ya I know, when I first got the truck I thought the 7.5 was the only one it came with. But once I started modding it and such, I found out....it was very disapointing :( :( :( :(

It pisses me off how much can the Gen save by having the 2 rears instead of just the good one?

Oh I bet he drives it nice and easy. If I had that in my truck I would be laying down rubber all over town, not to mention racing every truck at the light....or mustang for that matter. HAHAHAHA, that would be great, keeping it all quit and then smoking the pants off of a dude in a mustang.

Thats pretty much the plan for me I want the truck to seem like at best I have the V6 with exhaust and then well wreak havok everywhere I go I think I may have located an 8.5 will know later today

do you still want that 8.5 ? i just picked up a ford 9in two weeks ago and won't be needing the thing.

Louie, I'll take it if no one jumps. Be at Jax Raceway next weekend for the Dixie Shootout (in the Monte Carlo).

That'll make the decision to do the 85 p/u much easier.

I don't think the 7 5/8 are bad rear ends. Isn't that what's in a lot of Silveraldos and Camaros? I don't you'll really need a 8.5 Unless your really mean to it and grab serious traction.

firefighter

The silverados allways get a 8.5 the camaros used to get 8.5 until '82 os '83 then they got the 7 5/8 Big Louie I'd be interested in the rear lets talk... sending a pm

the s10 xtreme never came from the factory with disc brakes, that must be a blazer xtreme setup.
