hello i have a 1998 chevy S-10 2.2L and i was looking for info to do the swap like headers, mounts, suspention mods to handle the weight and a wiring diagram and i was wondering would the stock 4X4 rear end would hold up to the V8 and would a 700R4 fit in the trans tunnel and what type of oil pan should i use.

yes a 700r4 will fit, yes a stock 4x4 will hold up, depending on how much horsepower the v8 makes.

I plan on only making 300-370hp I'm not to worried about making power it is for looks and sound that and so I don't have to shifttwo gears down to make it up a hill

mrvegas, If you have the TPI V8/700R4 combo now out of an F body, the pan will fit as well as the 700R4. As well as later model TPI motors inc. LT-1 or LT-4 with 4L60E (4L60E is basicly 700R4 that is electronic/computer controlled). Lots of manuals and other litterature out there to help you step by step along the way.

well one of the biggist things im thinking about is finding header that will work and motor mounts and with the 700R4 use the same trans mount cross member?

YEP! You may have to oblong the center bolt mount on the cross member and there is a GM trans mount that the single bolt is off set so you can rotate it to fit you application. You will however have to shorten your drive shaft. I also found that my rear axle was off set forward once I put on larger tire/wheels. If your S series is the same, you may want to "center" your axle before you messure for drive shaft length. You can pick up adjustable spring perch spacers that give you the ability to perfectly center your axle or just re-drill your leaf spring pin hole. Sanderson makes a high quality "shorty" header or the CP1000 cast manifold that is quieter and flows within 10% of tubular headers.

why not go with a better LS motor. MPI etc. Benifit alot more from a new gen block than the older tpi. Pick them up fairly cheap, do a cam swap/head/intake and your looking at your desired hp if not more with a good tune.

well i had a LS1 to go in the truck but i used it in another project so i bought a TPI mainly because i like the intake manifold.
