I was on the way home and she quit while I was driving. I just filled up and only had 50km on the trip ticket. Turns over, has spark. Fuel pump runs and had pressure at test valve.

Just replaced the FPR a week ago, and it has a new pump from last month. Had a friends dad come tow it home for me. Tested it with a shot of gas and she fired for a few seconds.

Either the injector went or somethings wrong with the pulse to it. Gonna have to run some tests in the morning. I have a spare injector kicking around from when I changed my spider unit last month trying to problem solve that one.

Any of you guys have a wiring diagram of the injector laying around and some suggestions?

Thanks,

Kevin

the spider unit thats currently in it, is it the used spider you picked up from a wreckers? Might also want to check the fuel pressure again, just to be sure. Only takes a quick minute to throw a gauge on the test port and prime the system.

I swapped out the injector from the original from my truck. Before I put everything back together I got a fuel pressure gauge (wish I did before I took everything apart) and realized I am only getting 20 PSI.

Why would my pump drop from 60 to 20 while I am driving, and whats causing it to remain at 20. I turned key on/off several times pressure remains constant.

I don't suspect the fuel filter would cause a problem like that while the engine was running, maybe a slow drop over time. This is a brand new pump with maybe a month on it? Fuel filter is 6 months old.

Turns out the pump seemed to go. Luckily I had a few buddies to help me get the box off this afternoon.

If I wasn't tied up for money I wouldn't have gone with some after market POS. Least it was covered under warranty. However swapping out my injector to one of the ones from the wreckers caused a rougher idle, almost a shake in the engine like its missing. Not really to bad and runs smooth when foots down. But I'll have to get around to swapping the old one back in a few days.

Least shes running for now. Thanks for the help guys.

Just grab a walbro fuel pump for $100 bucks. Keep the housing and just replace the pump itself. All those aftermarket replacement pumps are garbage.

Good to hear its running again. Its not all that uncommon to get "bad" parts these days. When I replace parts, I get the vehicle back to a state where I can test it again with the new parts installed...but with the vehicle still torn apart...know what I mean..

Ah good to see that explanation of the black hose that I couldn't figure out for the life of me what to do with. I spent hours debating what to do and tried taking the old brass one out and put it in the spot I see on this carter pump, but I ended up just leaving it alone.

I didn't know a walbro was that cheap, all local stores around here quoted them 200+ and I was in a rush to not order online. But will def pick up one should anything happen to this one.

concerning bad parts I got a Murry ac compressor that was bad out of the box. But its good to hear you got your truck up and running.

It appears my problems are not over. Was on the way to an exam and she quit on me just around the corner from my house. Fuel pump turns on but no pressure this time.

I am thinking one of my hose clamps was not on tight enough and the line popped off inside the tank. Gotta take the ****er apart again and have a look. PITFA

I debating dropping the tank out and just jacking up the truck real high since I don't have the help around for the box, and and I had a hard time getting the spout in last time. The return line on it never had a clamp from the previous owner and it popped off on me and I lost a ton of gas while I was struggling to set the box down right and crawl underneath to see what happened.

Wondering if this is a better route to go? My tanks pretty full right now so I'm going to empty it once I get it out, and put the gas back in after once shes working. Plus it will help getting it back in.

If you remove all the bolts holding the bed down except the 2 in the back (just loosen those). Jack the front end of the bed up enough for you to gain access to the pump, that'll save you from dropping the tank and dealing with the gas and weight of the tank.

Oh and dont forget the 3 screws/bolts that hold the gas port housing to the bed.

I have left those off for months now lol. One corner bracket on the box rotted off so I only have 3 bolts holding the box down. I have 2 custom made jack stands that can hold the truck about a foot and a half or so off the ground (clearance from frame to ground) im guessing, and I got an ATV jack I am going to use for the tank. Only 2 bolts holding the tank in and one hose clamp for the spout.

I'm going to block the front end, take the driver side tire off so I can get in at the harness connection first, then drop the tank down about 4 inches to get my hand in, theres a few now but I have fat hands. Tanks full but the jack will make it easy then I can just wheel it out. Gonna put it off till Friday or tm night since I have an exam tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips
