View Full Version : Overload leaf
I was wonerding which leaf is the overload leaf. I would like to pull it to take some of the rake out of my truck it is insane.
over load leaf is the very bottom leaf. it will only drop you the thickness of the leaf it self. which is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
do you have a 4 leaf pack or a 3 leaf pack? (total # of leaf)
4 pack, it will lower my truck a little wont it
yeah it will lower it alittle, i think the leaf above the over load (second from bottom) will drop you about 1 1/2 inches which is probly to much drop if you only trying level the truck out. i dont know if you have air shocks in the back but if you do you could pull the second leaf from bottom and run alittle pressure in the air shocks. but if you only need alittle you could try the over load its up to you. and your right i just looked at your car domain page and you do have alot of rake.
pulling over load= thickness of leaf it self 1/4 to 1/2" drop
leaf above over load= about 1 1/2" drop
leaf above that (just below main leaf)= about 3" drop
my truck has 3 leafs (includeing the over load) and i want to pull one of them to get some more drop. but if i pull the middle one that will be putting alot of pressure on the main leaf. so i think what i might do is pull the middle leaf and than add an extra over load leaf. so pulling my middle leaf should drop me about 2" or so and than adding an extra over load will raise me back up about 1/2 inch. but there wont be all the weight on the main leaf.
also remember pulling leafs will make the ride alittle bouncier. but if you only do over load leaf it shouldnt be that bad

When i was experementing with pulling leafs on my truck, the overload didnt drop any. since the axle is on top of the leafs, all the overload will do is change your shock location by the thickness off the leaf. there is NO load on the overload leaf, all it does is help support the truck when you have a big load and the whole pack is squished down.
If i remember correctly, when i pulled the 2nd longest, it dropped me 1.5". I never did mess around with the other leafs (i also had a 4-pack)
I would leave the overload in....its alot safer. just pull one of the other ones
hey mr bowtie i have a ? for you does the ends of your over load leaf touch the leaf above it or does it only touch in the middle and when there is extra weight on it. i want to know when it was stock before you pulled the other leafs. i just wanted to know because i know some trucks the over load leaf only starts workin when there is alot of weight or when you hit a good bump. i cant seem to find much info about a 3 leaf pack (which is what i have) and the ends of my over load do touch the leaf above it. so i am wondering if mine will lower it more just by pulling the over load.

my overload leaf just touched the leaf above it...it was only usefull if i had a huge load in the bed and the leafs were squished right down.
in your case blazen...it MAY lower you a bit. you would have to go have a look and see if it is attached at the ends of the overload, or if it is just arched to be sort of a permanent overload. my guess is that it is just arched to support the extra weight of the blazer. In fact, i think pulling the overload on a 3 pack will lower you for sure. i dont think it would be much (maybe .5-1" at most) but as long as it gets you lower, thats all that counts
thanks your right i think its just arched to meet the one above it cause its no connected with bands or anything. i might jack the truck up and let the axle just hang and see if its loose or anything. i think i still might pull the leaf above it and than add a second overload leaf (2 total). i'm also gonna add a 3 or 4" drop block while i'm at it. and a bolt in c notch. thanks for the info bro.
