View Full Version : HVAC problems - 95 fullsize
This is with a 95 fullsize chevy, but I am hoping maybe you guys can help...
With the fan off, you can choose where you want the air directed and it will go to the selected area - but with fan on (no matter what speed), it switches to feet. If you unplug the relay for the blower motor, this still happens...
Also, the compressor is not coming on - is that a relay issue?
Is there any way I can check/test things to determine what needs to be replaced?

I know i'm a little late on this post Tink, Sorry, question is this truck using the electronic dash controler for the ac or the older mechanical controler??
If its a mechanical controler there is a switch there that turns on the compressor, and sounds like a internal door is stuck someplace, and is vaccum related or a vaccum leak also.
Unfortunately this is the electronic control. :( I did find some information on-line that the blower switch often goes bad in these, so that is probably the issue there.
But, still need to track down the compressor issue. Might just be toast - this truck has 350K on it.

Check your pressures, there are 2 pressure switches, one on the compressor (if its an R4 compressor) and one on the accumulator, and check your fuse as well. Check in that order, also check the clutch wire connector.
If your system is Low or out of refrigant unit won't run,

and if you do need a Controler look at this website to find one thats close.

Once you find the leak and recharg, the compressor will work.
